Thats not a drought, 6 exclusives in a span of 4 months. None of them are huge hardware pushers but thats a different thing entirely.

Its hard to think other wise, since op is talking about the ps4 launch in japan. In fact, everyone here seems to be talking about ps4 and 3DS performace in japan. But if you need it, here it is: Where the hell are major the 2014 3DS games to japan?(better?)


No the OP is not about Japan performance, its about sales once PS4 is launched worldwide. Hes saying Japan will give the boost it needs to outsell 3DS on a consistant basis.

Also the person I quoted said nothing about Japan in his post

No. It raised my expectations, and what we're getting falls below even my previous expectations. The most exciting game we know we're getting this year is Professor Layton. That's a problem.

this is wat i mean, 3ds 2013 was an amazing year(meaning for 1 hardware library) so now fans expect every year like it. This Year is looking like a 2012 so far. Not better, not worse. The thing is we only have the first half of the year announcments, we dont kno the second half with the exception of ssb.

This year us no where near how great 2012 was.

Feb 2012 we didn't kno we would have NSMB2 (which came in July/August). Its too early to tell. I should make a thread about 2011-2015 library comparisons :)


Don't care about NSMB like that, but we'll see then I guess.

The japanese will need a machine to play Final Fantasy, PS4 will surely sell at least as much as PS3 in Japan.

I think it will do fairly well, with half decent Vita sales in Japan lately consumers will like the fact the PS4 and Vita go hand in hand. As for Xbone, I wouldn't even bother releasing it there.
The 3DS install base in Japan must be approaching something of a saturation point, but games like Monster Hunter 4 will sell like hot cakes.

Seems like vgc has been overtracking 3ds lately, so I wouldn't be surprised if PS4 is already ahead by a good amount without japan.

Funny thing. Apparently OP not aware how much bigger portable gaming is in Japan than home gaming. I'm sure PS4 will get a nice surge from Japan at first. And then system sales will drop in Japan. There is every chance in the world you will see 3DS "back atop the world charts" again in the future at some point.

You really have to love how people seem to assume PS4 is going to be selling 100k+ numbers from now til infinity.

I don't know about that. I see you point but so far in 2014 we have:

-Mario golf

-Yoshi new Island

-Fossil fighters

-Kirby deluxe

-Super smash bros 3ds

-Bravely Default (published by Nintendo). 

Most of those games are for first half 2014. Nintendo often release games a few months just after being announced. We might get a couple of new one at E3. Worst case scenario we get around 6,7 or 8  first party game this year for 3DS. Last year was so good for 3DS that it'll be almost impossible to beat. I still worry more about WiiU and those constant delays...
