DKC Tropical Freeze is a mainstream game

If you are going to bring up a Metroid game, I can assure you, it would have sold just as badly, nevermind a new IP.

The blame for the sales failure is directed at the WiiU itself, not the game.

A new Metroid would have had a lot more hype than another Donkey Kong. It might not have sold as well but it would have made a bigger impact on hardware.

I meant a Metroid Prime made by Retro. Not one by Team Ninja that attempted to butcher the entire franchise.

DKC Returns sold well on Wii, but didn't move consoles Or not as many as some expect for a 6m seller franchise.

I guess it was smoke and mirrors.

That's what I mean. Even Other M opened bigger than DK. Now a true Prime HD could have generated more hype and maybe more sales.

That was on the Wii! How could you possible compare those totally distinct scenarios?

Forum hype does not equate real world sales. Metroid would have done as much for the WiiU as DK.
