Souls by far, much MUCH better combat, no repeated environment,
3rd person works better for vs combat with swords/shields,
characters are more interesting, and its a proper challenge.

I choose Dark Souls. Skyrim didn't make me shed tears of blood when playing it.. Such a manly feeling...

I prefer Dark Souls 2, I think Skyrim in its core is a pretty simple game, what it does have going for it is its insane open worldness, but I feel like the whole package is better on Dark Souls.
I didn't know it was that easy to get people to discuss on your thread. This is my 1st thread and I'm kind of surprised.
Preety good website. It's fun.
Dark Souls, Skyrim was utterly mediocre compared to Oblivion and Morrowind. It couldn't hold my interest longer than 20 hours or so.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
Yup! Those two have almost nothing alike. I'm a great fan of Oblivion, so I don't like Skyrim very much. It seems like a watered down Elder Scrolls version to me.
On the other hand, DS is a game that amazes me each and every time I touch it. I believe Demon's Souls is the game of the generation.

This, I stole from grandpa...It's called soap.
Does Skyrim still have all of the problems I heard about near launch on the PS3? Should I get Skyrim or one of the older games?
Everything about Dark Souls was better. Even down to technical issues. How pathetic is that?

Dark souls' fully 3 dimensional hand crafted world is beautifully stitched together and thanks to the difficulty, every path, shortcut and corner will be lodged into your mind by the end of the game. Very satisfying combat once you figure it out. Skyrim's outside world is very well crafted, but the dungeons are all forgettable, repetitive, stitched together from template pieces. Combat becomes laughably easy, I had crafted a 100% reduction destruction spell set and could carpet bomb the most powerful destruction spells to infinity. Challenge none. |
This, plus the replayability in Dks is off the charts
I'm a huge fan of the fantasy/medieval adventure game. I was excited for both games and after playing both I liked neither. I gave them both 2nd chances and still couldn't get into them. Oddly enough, I played and platinum'd Kingdoms of Amalur and Dragon's Dogma and loved every minute of those games. Dragon's Dogma has even taken the place of Ocarina of Time as my all-time favorite game.
