Between 80-85, I think.
Professional reviewers will deduct points for it being too kiddy, too colourful, not sporting 4k tesselation teraflops, nor featuring a sandbox overworld set in 22nd century New York City. The lack of a deep and dark mature storyline will be a point of complaints as well. Also, Nintendo is stupid 'cuz they made MK instead of F-Zero, which would've been smarter.

^How did you get Gamespot's Mario Kart 8 review already? lol

It only makes sense, you know.

Something tells me I'll be disappointed again when reviews come out. I know I shouldn't care, but it's stronger than myself lol. Mario Kart is one of the few games I buy regardless of what reviewers say though, I know I'll have fun with it.

Not that I'd ever listen to Gamespot reviews by the way.

By the way, am I the only one who wants a story mode for Mario Kart instead of the normal Grand Prix mode? Kinda like how Crash racing did, I loved those games as well.

Story mode is a good idea! Although I'm not sure if I would want it replacing the traditional Grand Prix.

What I would really love is a spiritual sequel to Diddy Kong Racing with a similar adventure mode. How cool would that be?

Higher than 3DWorld

addendum:

MK8 greater than or equal to 3DWorld with a 3 point error

i.o.w 90+

Never played Diddy Kong Racing(I didn't even know N64 existed when I was a little kid!), but I've watched some reviews on it before. Seems like quite the wacky game, but so were the 90s I guess.

In retrospect, you're right, Grand Prix Mode should be kept alongside a new story mode. I loved collecting 3 stars on all tracks in the Grand Prix. But I really really want to see a story mode, but they would've told us by now already if they were going to do this. Unless they want to really surprise us.

Also looking forward to see what new weapons will be in the game. And when they're going to troll us with a trailer that shows the blue shell. They've been trying to keep that one secret for some reason. :P

The majority of the people seem to think the game will score 90%+ which makes me believe this is the most hyped Mario Kart to date. Could be wrong though, wasn't around in the old days.

Hmm, I just realized that MK games are a lot lower rated than a lot of other Nintendo titles; yet they sell the most. Go figure.

I'm gonna say north of 85 on this one, seems like there's a bunch of new content and gameplay looks as good as ever. Mario Kart is probably my favorite franchise on Nintendo in sheer entertainment value.

Probably the closest thing to Titanfall on the Wii U considering smash has basically been split in two.

The way DK:TF is being reviewed, I think its a moderaltly strong chance to be 90%+

51% of being 90% plus cause racers are less of niche market like Forza and GT and kart racers typically focus more on gameplay then simulation.

Add on to the fact that historically its the most critically aclaimed kart racer.

6/10 Gamespot, "too similar to previous iterations, lack of innovation, so-so level design".

Call of Duty 125: Black Ghosts at War with Big Red: 9/10, "outstanding stuff, lots of sob's yelling on Live, glossy visuals, never get sick of this shit".
