Forums - Nintendo - Wii Fit U sells under 20k in U.S. for January

best news i've heard so far :p

Around the Network

Nintendos biggest miscalculation, chasing the non-gamer audience and thinking they're still interested.

Well, what this says clearly is that the Wii U failed to penetrated the casual market. Something we already assumed.

pretty much

Thing is; a lot of Nintendo fans were still banking on this audience and thought that Wii Fit U would actually make a difference. Just goes to show how little people understand about the modern market.

This audience is long lost to home console though, and it was clear to see if only you wanted to (which is the key here).

Can't blame them. It's the only reason why the Wii sold more than PS3 and 360. Nintendo may have a very dedicated fan base but its no match for Sony and Microsoft who attract a lot of gamers with their wide range of Rated Teen and Mature games.

Hooray for generalizations!

sure you can, he's not generalizing. He is saying that there was alot of Ninty fans who thought this might help WIi U, not ALL of them. Its evident on this site alone. Its no match for SOny or MS who are red ocean mostly. That is something that Ninty CANNOT compete with them in, at least not now. No blue ocean, kind of screwed.

It was written but people had their blinders on.

You missed my self-aimed joke. I meant my comments were more generalized than his. And I agree that Nintendo needs blue ocean to sell a lot of units.

I didn't see a lot of Nintendo fans thinking the Wii Fit U would help the Wii U. In fact the only positve Wii Fit U thread i saw was the one about its pedometer promotion.

You know what audience is even more fickle than "casual gamers"? "Fitness craze junkies".

How many people are still on Atkins? Or 80,000 different ab crunchers from the 90s? lol.

Honestly if you want to get your ass in shape get a gym membership or put on a pair of sneakers, load up your phone/iPod with some good music and jog for 10-15 minutes a day and save yourself a ton of money.

Wonder how this impacts their "Quality of Life" platform....

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

fair enough.

Much earlier people thought the combination of holidays and wii fit U would help, but to be fair that was long before the game got pushed out of holiday launch
