How can you say that with this being the most succesful launch of home consoles?

PS3's first year 6,017,487 - Ps4 first 3 months 5.1 Million.

Xbox 360's first year 5,933,110 - Xbox Ones first 3 months 3.4 Million

I think a lot of wii's went to kids that are now getting older and want a different experience, meaning they are buying into the new HD twins consoles.

Remember most of the casual market had kids and that is most likely the reason they bought a Wii, Some not but with all that gaming going on. This most likely Increased the younger generations gaming appitite and coddled it's growth.

So I think this gen will grow, as price cheapens, more of those Wii fans are going to buy in and those yesturday kids are going to have kids of there own playing Xbox One, Ps4 or the Wii U.

I predicted 220,000,000 million for this gen. Not a hugh increase but I think it will happen.

Last generation sold ~262 million (100, 80, 80.) So your prediction is less than last generation.

Also, this is my reason; http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=178178. Your thread inspired me, thanks! :)

Oh well I guess I did predict less. Dammit, I got confused somewhere in there. LOL

Around the Network

PS4 125 million
Xbox One 50 million
Wii U 20 million

PS4 - 60m
XB1 - 35m
WiiU - 35m
3DS - 85m
PSV - 25m

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

PS4 - 125 million

Xbox One - 55 million

Wii U - 25 million

My pessimistic prediction. Launch sales of both next gen consoles are amazing and all but they are pretty meaningless in the grand scheme of things. 60% of PS4 owners being Vita owners further confirms that it is just the super hardcore fans that are rushing in to buy these consoles probably because it has been so long since ps3/360 came out. Once those hardcore users all have their shiny new consoles, sales will drop hard. I believe the more casual gamers will be content with the 360/ps3 because the graphical jump isn't as big as last gen so everything not first party is getting ported to ps3/360 anyway and because many of them now just play mobile games.

PS4 - 70mil
Xbone - 45mil
Wii U - 20mil

or alternatively, the more casual users end up still being interested in consoles and the ps4/xbone do as well as their predessesors did.

PS4 100mil
Xbone-90mil
WiiU-30mil

Around the Network

PS4 - 100-120 million
X1 - 50 million
WiiU - 20 million

Based on current sales trends.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Are you ready to see the future?

Year Wii U XBONE PS4
2012 2.2

2013 3.2 3.1 4.4
2014 4 7 16.6
2015 5 10 30
2016 4 13 35
2017 2 14 30
2018 1 11 25
2019 +1 rest of life 6 20
2020   3 10
2021   1 7
2022   +2 rest of life 6
2023     +20 rest of life
Total 22.4 million 70.1 million 204 million

Wii U gets its successor announced and released in 2016. PS5 comes out in 2020. PS4.1 comes out holiday 2016 and PS4.2 comes out holiday 2018. Other stuff happens with PS4 too. XBONE does not have a direct successor, but rather a home media device released in 2018 using the XBOX brand. The new device can play XBONE games however and cuts the system's life short.

Amazon releases their console in 2015 and it flops. They release a second console in 2019 to beat the PS5 to market. Their second system finds moderate success. Steam machines aren't a flop, but they stay incredibly niche having a very small impact on the console market until late in the gen. Samsung and Google also release consoles in 2016 to compete with Amazon but both machines find little success. They are micro consoles like ouya and sell more than Amazon's traditional console, but they make their companies less money. Neither get a successor.

Gaming is in decline. Thats a fact. Why anybody is predicting anything near 100m is beyond me.

Ps4 - 55M
XBO - 45M
Wu - 16m.

Your quite the optimist. Where are all these new gamers coming from?
