GTA doesn't get a major release every couple years, either. There were five years between GTAIV and V. And although Red Dead may be more story-oriented than GTA, that certainly did not prevent Skyrim from topping 20 million sold. The franchise may never be as big as GTA, but it certainly can be a strong second pillar that will fill the long gap between GTA releases.

Strangely I'm the only one who shares the OP's opinion, I think it is a great game, but doesn't deserve a sequel, we've seen it all, I've only played it for the story and still haven't finished it yet.

Probably because it sold about 11 million copies on PS3 and 360 together, and had a really high meta and reviews from players is high. Positive things you know. that and this kids threads do no necissarily convey his real opinion. He makes stuff up all the time he probably does not really believe to get a reaction out of posters.

It's not that I don't think it deserves to have a sequel; it's that I think it deserves not to have a sequel. RDR was a brilliant adventure and one of my favourite games of the generation, but there's really nothing more to be done with that IP. John Marston's story was the story of the death of the Wild West, and that's a fitting place to end.

I'd buy a sequel in a second,without a single thought. The game was that dam good in my mind.

I really enjoyed Red Dead and would love to spend more time in that world

We're going to get some GTA V single player DLC before too long and hopefully a next-gen GTA V port. I reckon R*'s next big game will be announced before the end of the year. Maybe launch Spring 2015?

Sure, if a different developer could make a different game based around a different character and story with the same setting.

Redemption is the second iteration in the series. :P
