You are correct, it would be tough to tell the difference in compressed audio and video and uncompressed audio and video. But the file size for the compressed is way smaller.

 

But compression can make a huge difference if you compress it to much. I am looking at you PS4 screenshot system! Is there any reason we can not take screenshots at 1080p and less compressed? I understand compressing the videos to save HDD work but not screenshots.

 

But to the original thread I think that it is a good thing for the game to be larger, I do not see how it could possibly be a bad thing unless you have slow internet (I do sadly)
