Forums - Gaming - Sony: Nintendo's decline "could be detrimental to the market"

lol... fanboys logic.....

this discussion is pointless. Every main videogame brand is in decline. And will continue to be.

Someone's ready to dance on Ninty's grave...

(Not that Nintendo is anywhere near dying)

Lol at Sony acting like Nintendo is already dead and has gone the way of Sega. What about when the PS3 was selling just as dismally as the Wii U in its first year? I don't think Sony would have appreciated Nintendo treating them like they were already out of the game, even though they sure could have.

"stronger than ever"

Making that claim is being disconnected from reality.

the point you have missed is that Nintendo had a years head start over both the PS4 and XB1, thats a full year with no competition, the PS3 had competition from both Microsoft and Nintendo beings the Wii was the cheapest and appealed to younger gamers drove it's success  the 360 was out a year before the PS3 and was cheaper than the PS3, SEGA pulled out of the console market as their consoles were not as popular as they once used to be, by 2001 the DC had only sold 10 million WW it had been out 3 years earlier than the PS2 but when the PS2, Game Cube and XBOX launched the sales of the DC dried up and SEGA went software only.

LOL Sony talking about the decline of others is really funny when they are on the verge of closing half of they bussineses.
Anyway. Theres no decline for Nintendo. Is a decline from Wii popularity nothing else. Nintendo is actually stronger than ever was.

This isnt from Sony CEO, its from their PlayStation UK department, and in that specific department, they are annihilating Nintendo on every level

Are they really?

(PS4 > Wii-U) + (3ds > Vita) = Pure annihilation

I guess that makes sense some how.....

PS4, PS3, PSP, Vita >>>>>> Wii, DS, 3DS Wii U

Yeah they are

Cute.  Well, if you want to include last gen systems:   Nintendo 304.1m consoles > Sony  175.31m consoles

So, no they are not.

Let's not even compare both companies' software sales, which would only further disprove your flimsy 'annihilation' assertion.

I was obviously talking about weekly sales, (UK weekly, to be even more specific,), but keep spinning and reaching if it helps you sleep better at night.

Lumping together weekly sales of three supported consoles against two to make a point - seems like a fair comparison.  Regardless, taking longer to eventually sell less consoles than your competitor, is a funny thing to call an 'annihilation'.  Nintendo is quite  a bit ahead in hardware sales, software sales, and profit.  The only metric in which Sony is winning is the weekly sales of PS4 v. WiiU.  If that's enough for you to declare 'annihilation' then so be it, but it's a pretty shortsighted conclusion.

Besides, the article is not singling out the UK market, so I'm not sure why you are.  In fact, it references things as 'the wider gaming industry' and 'the entire gaming market'.  Did you just need an excuse to make a snide comment?

Nintendo: "Thanks Sony... that means a lot to us"

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

The guy of Sony WHICH IS COMPETENCE OF NINTENDO not friends, this is just PR to install "Nintendo is in decline" mindset into people. mental control, brainwashing to a degree.

Nintendo is NOT in decline. WiiU is a failed product. Thats it, they will move on and be successful again with ease.

@bold. Yes.

I don't remember Nintendo saying things like this when Sony was in the red.

Nintendo is a class act in itself, personified in one of the most humble and kind guys ever, Iwata-san.

Last time i checked Sony is still in red.

You had me until this post.

Phew.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

I doubt Sony cared when PS2 was royally kicking Gamecube's ass. But ok, that's nice of them to say.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Uhh..how are they ahead of hardware sales? I'll give you software sales, since Sony was always more of a hardware company, as for profits, thats only been the case during the 7th gen, and doesnt look to be the case in this one (mind you, im talking about Sony as whole, not SCE only)

'Annihilation' is happening right now - you can try and spin it by adding Nintendo sales since 1983 to make them look better, but the matter of fact is, Nintendo has been never doing worse than they are today, both sales and profit wise. In fact, if you disregard the Wii and the DS, you'll see ALL of NIntendo hardware and software being in decline since the NES. But all that is actually irrelevant, as I was making point about today's situation only.

''The only metric in which Sony is winning is the weekly sales of PS4 v. WiiU''    ...and PS4 vs 3DS, and PS3 vs Wii+WiiU, and PS4 vs anyone else...in fact, the only metric in which they arent winning is Vita.
