That was a nice little backhanded compliment. Sony needs Nintendo because, if Nintendo disappears, Sony now runs the risk of being passed the "baby console" title. A cross that Nintendo has bore since the 4th generation.

So the best selling, most profitable console last gen with the most games sold failed? Please, help me understand your logic.

I'm going to rock on forever.... forever.... forever....
I listen to older bands too but I'm only still 24!! Suckers!
You're still in your 20's, that episode doesn't apply to you yet!
Music these days takes less effort and they recieve more money and praise for it. They must just laugh all the way to the bank.... Or shuffle.... Under an umbrella, ella, ella eh? eh? eh?
Anyway....To the OP
Sony should be more concerned with their own decline, much more severe than Nintendo's...
The WiiU is in strife, no doubt about it now though. It can still crack Gamecube numbers though, not all hope is lost for it to be a minor success next to the 3DS juggernaut. It has some big releases this year.

Are they really?
(PS4 > Wii-U) + (3ds > Vita) = Pure annihilation
I guess that makes sense some how.....
You guys are silly, everyone knows Sony wants to remain in the red. I mean, why would they keep a cancer known as their TV division which bleeds millions of their money every fiscal year? :D
There is a reason to the madness :D

Sony and Nintendo have different target audiences. Sony wouldn't say the same thing about Xbox.

We need to bring maybe more family-friendly, more casual experiences into the market. I think there’s a big market segment there that we should take the challenge to engage and I see lots of potential to do that.” |
I think it is. He's saying Nintendo fills that part of the market really well, whereas for Sony it is always a challenge to gain some of that market. Without someone filling that hole, the video game industry would be losing a huge chunk of their potential audience.
This is second or third comment like from Sony executive in the 6 months or so about Nintendo position in market, Sony get your own house in order before commenting on others problems as yours much bigger and life threatening. Also to anybody saying they took a lost from the last financial report which was Q3 you might to google and look it up because they made a net profit 149 billion yen. However, they are still projecting a lose for this financial year.
