Wii? F**k no. Wii U? F**k yes.
To the OP: Sony has already said something similar to this.

In my opinion the Wii was the absolute low point for Nintendo. Financially it was not a failure obviously but quality wise it absolutely was. I do not think the Wii U is a failure as a console though, Nintendo just has not managed it properly

Sure it is, especially after reporting a loss in its quarterly report.
Also I'm surprised by your reaction. . Sony is showing concern about Nintendo and the effect that it would have on the gaming industry. You also forget that Sony Computer Entertainment (the company which runs the PlayStation brand) is not on the 'decline'. Have you not seen the recent PS3/PS4 sales?

To be fair, this is coming from the Playstation UK boss.
Sony is not very good at capturing the younger audience, actually I lie...They captured me when I was 6 so maybe they can pull it off.
It's a fair point, Nintendo have offered consoles ideal for younger gamers and such gamers may move towards playstation or xbox when they get older. I don't think either ps4 or xbox one are ideal consoles for young children.
I think as the wii u reduces in price and a wider selection of games are available the wii u once again will be a briliant choice for younger gamers. It really needs the gamepad re-designed as soon as possible though.

The guy of Sony WHICH IS COMPETENCE OF NINTENDO not friends, this is just PR to install "Nintendo is in decline" mindset into people. mental control, brainwashing to a degree.
Nintendo is NOT in decline. WiiU is a failed product. Thats it, they will move on and be successful again with ease.
The title of the thread is not really representative.
From what I read, it's more about what sony needs to do to replace nintendo :
“That is the challenge to us. We need to bring maybe more family-friendly, more casual experiences into the market. I think there’s a big market segment there that we should take the challenge to engage and I see lots of potential to do that.”

The handheld market has declined and that was/is Nintendo's biggest market so if the market is declining, so is Nintendo. The Wii U being a failure doesn't make that any better.
