Forums - Gaming - SAD! Remember Me developer DONTNOD gone into receivership (pre-bankruptcy)

Do not like the OP here at all. I'm actually a games journalist, and I played this game. I didn't like the overly complex combat system, and how hard it was if you didn't follow set combos perfectly, the fact that all the exploration gameplay/platforming was basically Uncharted, with a less interesting narrative. And the memory rewinds had potential but ended up being trial and error.

Nice try OP, but good new games are touted by journalists and flourish (The Last Of Us, Journey) mediocre ones are not and do not (Nintendoland, Remember Me...)

Too bad. It was a nice game. I really enjoyed its style.

First Last of Us/Journey are reviewed as 9.5/10 games, these are superb games, Remember me was a 7/10 it is a good game.

All those things you listed are not bad things, combat system wasn't overly complex, it was hit buttons until win with a few powers. Game wasn't hard at all. That kind of exploration/platforming is a standard feature in many action adventures and I'm guessing you won't criticise Uncharted for it. Most reviewers said the memory remixes were the best parts but there were just too few. Story worked well with the setting and flow.

Regardless of your view, were the developers not allowed to have another stab at it in a sequal/another game? They could have made the puzzles and platforming more intense, the combat more free flowing with complete customisable combos but I guess they won't have a chance now.

Maybe they should have just made a cover based shooter like you seem to like.

Hmm, pie.

Gonna look into it once it's $12-13 or 10€... too bad for the studio though. Is there a demo on PSN?

Its a shame when any company goes under. Hopefully things work out for the employees.

No, not bad things per se  - I'm just pointing out the reasons why, in my opinion, it is a 7/10 game and not a 9.5. I think those reasons are why the game unfortunately didn't grab the wider market's appeal, too.

Sure, the exploration was very similar to many action/adventure titles - nothing wrong with that, just not too innovative.

I agree with you that it is a real shame the developers are in trouble. The game had potential and I thought  a sequel could have really been something. Sad for everyone at the studio - maybe someone will buy them up?

Update: Dontnod claims it is simply resizing, rejects bankruptcy claims.

Perhaps this will alleviate your uncalled bitterness towards Mario games?

Oh... well that's nice. I'm glad they get another chance.

Hmm, pie.

When's the last time a game used an unattractive female protagonist and it became a big hit?

Heavenly Sword, Mirror's Edge, AC Liberation all tried and failed.

zelda does it

Most reviews seem to disagree with his acessment.

I have pondered getting it on discount but the reviews have me holding back. It sounds like the game would be simplistic.
