Yup, the Wii was a toy for little kids. My brother enjoyed the heck out of it! My PS3 was my best friend during 7th gen.

Learn the difference:  A product aimed at "casuals" and children is one thing.  It can be a movie, a Tv program, a book, etc. A product defined as a toy is another thing. Board games, action figures, card games. That doesn´t mean a single product may fit both definitions. And videogames can fit that properly, no matter which brand it is. Every videogame console is a toy at its essence

According to MS fanboys the ps3 was not an artform,but just the most inexpensive blu ray player available.

 Also,  most of the replies that thread got   are simply  very dumb....  VGChartz truly was much better in 2008 than it is now.

I´ll tell you a little secret, everyone besides some delusional "hardcoregamers" consider videogames as toys.

There is a subtlety in words.

If I said "Sandy Lanes is a runner, Usain bolt is a machine", it would be because I'm referring to his characteristics of being so on point and relentless, not that I'm calling him a machine, and not that UB isn't a runner.

I call the wii a toy because of the implications not the definitions. Something for children...less sophisticated...a diversion. The implication has everything to do with perspective. Some people perceive ALL games as toys...some people think only little cars and action figures are toys...just because a definition is tied to a word, doesn't mean that we are suddenly no longer able to use figures of speech. The two go hand in hand. It's up to someone who is WILLING to understand to make the connection. Naturally, it will appear strange to someone with a closed mind.

Wrong. The PS2 could guide homing missiles to their targets. That was one badass console.
