How? This isn't only directed to you but everyone. Coming by and dropping the "facepalm" or "clueless" doesn't say anything but the inability to form an argument.
The fact is the strongest sales of games of nintendo systems tend to be family friendly. Back during the GameCube days nintendo made lots of hardcore games, who bought them? Nobody. On wii was metriod selling any units? Nope. GameCube highest software sales were from family games. Get a clue guys he objectivly screwed up by not releasing games in the beginning that marketed to this. His job should been to get some of the market of the wii. Which should have been a 250 system with family games like mario kart.
Its like you guys think only one type of market exist and if you don't follow it you have no market. This why you are not qualified to run a business because you guys have narrow view of business.

Because they've been doing nothing BUT targeting children. Have you seen the recent WiiU ads? Here they are:

Nintendo has a huge image problem in that they're seen as the "kiddie" console. Microsoft and Sony have done a great job over the years by making Nintendo's platform seem like something only children should buy. How many teenagers get together to play Call of Duty on their WiiUs? The big N hasn't exactly done a lot to fix their imaging problem. Marketing primarily to kids is a stupid idea considering kids are getting more and more into smartphones and tablets. The WiiU won't be able to survive with just kids buying it.

The problem is kids and adults still don't know what the wii u is. They screwed up there with the wiiu and will never get any audience because of the name. The ad is the proof of that. If the wiiu was called wii 2 it would have sold a lot better with the launch of mario kart at 250. Only chance now is if they rebrand the wiiu to wii 2 or kill it. The wii was simple to understand and market. Perfect for the family. The wiiu isn't that. It has confusing controller and name.
Onto your argument about teenagers. That is irrelevant because the wii proved that the market is strong in other areas. You say teenagers and I say what about the low sales of casual games on ps3? You say what about the 18-32. I say about the 50-72 that bought the wii? The imaging problem is only problem if your marketing at the wrong audience. You are proving my point. If you have image you can either use it to your advantage or disadvantage. A successful business man says the glass is half-full instead of half-empty. Trying to get the other audience is by your own admitted words counterproductive.
Saying people are now on to tablets and smartphone isn't an argument. Casual games on the wii are still outselling the Xbox or ps3 versions by far. Look at just dance and Disney games. The 3ds which is at 42 million proves you wrong. Nintendo problem was they made an anti-casual console to point were it is simply unattractive to casuals.

The problem here is that Nintendo isn't marketing to 18-32 or 50-72 or any market besides little kids. Nintendo is saying they should be targeting children MORE, when in reality they've been marketing to children far too much. The only casual franchise on the Wii that's still selling well is Just Dance. That's another problem with marketing exclusively to kids, they don't desire console upgrades the same way teenagers and adults do. Why would a parent buy their kid a $300 console just to play a game they can already play on their Wii. And I don't see how 3DS numbers prove me wrong, they're far below what the DS was doing at the same point in time. 3DS has been disappointing in EU and NA while doing extremely well in Japan.
But apparantly this whole thing was a mistranslation and Nintendo actually agrees with me here. They should start targeting other markets.

"The problem here is that Nintendo isn't marketing to 18-32 or 50-72 or any market besides little kids. "
I agree they need to focus on family ads. But showing some dudebro isn't going to do anything.
"Nintendo is saying they should be targeting children MORE, when in reality they've been marketing to children far too much."
Have they? What games have they released? Wonderful101 isn't a kid game it's to complex.Monster hunter isn't. Pikmin is to complex. Only Nintendo land,3d world, and 2d mario. Guess what currently has the most sales. It's not rocket science what the audience wants. The problem is there not releasing enough software in this area and new casual pulls. Where is our new wii sports ip?
"The only casual franchise on the Wii that's still selling well is Just Dance. That's another problem with marketing exclusively to kids, they don't desire console upgrades the same way teenagers and adults do. "
First, check your facts. Swap force currently one activision highest profiting division sold best on wii and double the sales of the other system sales. Disney infinity sold best on wii. Lego games this year too.
Second your argument that casuals don't upgrade is unfounded claim based on assumption. So, casuals don't upgrade there Phones? Casuals don't upgrade there tvs (Samsung)? What are you basing this on to actually prove your right? Is it because the wiiu is failing even though it's anti-casual? Are going to say ps3 failed to sale in the beginning because the hardcore don't adapt in beginning like casuals or was it because of other factors?
"Why would a parent buy their kid a $300 console just to play a game they can already play on their Wii."
Here you expose the problem I bought up. They price the system to be anti-casual. 350-300 dollars should have never been the price. I'm not disagreeing. They didn't price it right for the market. 250 would have been perfect. Your point should have been asked to nintendo.
"And I don't see how 3DS numbers prove me wrong, they're far below what the DS was doing at the same point in time."
nothing was going to hit ds numbers and not hitting it is not a failure. Ps4 will never hit those numbers does that mean hardcore market is a failure? Clearly not. If the wiiu was at 20 milllion right like the 3ds was would we still be calling it a failure or a system simply underperforming to previous system? Most people here would not be as hard on nintendo and nintendo would be posting profit.
The fact is bay 2/ X will flop. The market simply isn't interested on the system. That money should have been used on the next minecraft type game or casual pull.
