Wii U honestly is probably the most "cartoony" Nintendo console from its first year onwards in terms of content.
Even the Wii had more "hardcore" centric exclusives early on like Zelda: Twilight Princess (which is basically the Zelda game "hardcore" players asked for), Metroid Prime 3, Fire Emblem, and even Excite Truck.
The GameCube had Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II, Eternal Darkness, NBA Courtside 2002, Metroid Prime, Wave Race: Blue Storm its first year.
The N64? Killer Instinct Gold, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, Wave Race 64, GoldenEye.
