Forums - Gaming - [RUMOR] Xbox One GPU reserve getting smaller soon, down from 10% to 2%

Software achtecture, the 3 OS, hipervision, remember?

I think that is possible to get minor performance optmisation one at the time and in 2 or 3 years they can reach the 2% or less.

But any way, may be there was realy a major and single bottleneck they can eliminate that easy and that fast, without cripleling the snap and swap features.

It's Microsoft... software company... and if the rumors are ture then they stated to work in June.

Just out of curiosity, what exactly is the 2% of the GPU doing with "voice"?

GPGPU... instead to use the CPU MS choose use the GPU.

BTW AMD is moving the audio processing to GPU too... True Audio... PS4 uses audio processing on GPU too if devs choose.

AMD is using the Tensilia (or similar) DSP for audio, not the gpu.

GPGPU allows the gpu's compute units to run "simple" programs (parallel to, or instead of graphics tasks) adapted to the few things a gpu can compute, the gpu cannot run cpu tasks.

There are really only two questions at this point (if a developer uses those 8%):
1. What happens to "tvtvtvtvtvtvSPORTStvtvtvtvtv?
2. What happens with the snap function?

So this should make X1 games 1080p/60fps..

So is that snap disabled, or just Skype, or Kinect image processing, or gameplay dvr?
Looks like it's just Kinect, so no head tracking or gestures during games? Did that really need 8%? I thought it was less than that on the much weaker 360.

Much needed.

Kinect uses either 1/3 or 2/3 of the X360 gpu (plus some cpu as well).

So it's up to the developers to choose the compromise , isn't that how the reserve on the PS4 works too?

both consoles OS reserve space will only get smaller

dont think this will have any meaningful effect on xb1s multiplats as already seen games are running at either half the fps or sub 1080p i cant see this doing much since we've already seen upclock prior to launch, hype about cloudz and mystery secret sauze

going from 30fps -60 and or 720-900p to 1080 requires much more powa than these little tweaks

Yea but literally none of that has stopped me from enjoying the games and overall having fun with my Xbox One
