Forums - Gaming - [RUMOR] Xbox One GPU reserve getting smaller soon, down from 10% to 2%

Could that mean they are struggling to lock 60fps on TitanFall? Only game big enough to justify that move may be

That one...Pretty sure they do not want to release it under 1080p without 60 locked fps, respawn have been asked if that small increase could make a difference to which they respond yes (this is 100% assumption and not from any source but myself).

This and the "6v6 is perfect player count" (which sounded like total bs) may be what they needed to be able to achieve 1080/60 to avoid another res/fps gate.

RIP ps3, xbox360.

welcome home ps4 and X1

Just out of curiosity, what exactly is the 2% of the GPU doing with "voice"?

GPGPU... instead to use the CPU MS choose use the GPU.

BTW AMD is moving the audio processing to GPU too... True Audio... PS4 uses audio processing on GPU too if devs choose.

I'm clearly a little behind here, I thought "GPGPU" was a typing error. What does the extra GP stand for and what's the difference between GPU and GPGPU?

My guess is going to be 720p/60 or 900p/unlocked 60 (averaging around 56), 1080p/60 isn't going to happen even with the bump, far too much geometry and textures on show for that.

I don´t buy it.

This kind of performace update needs a major archtecture revison. Hard to belive they would do that that fast... may be the target until the end of the cicle is 2%.

GPGPU (General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit) is when you use the GPU to processing CPU tasks...

@Lucidium
You sir is probably right, 900p might be the target, but it's source engine...which is not that demanding, 6v6 only, which sounds like a choice to limit ressource utilisation and now that +8% gpu availability brought me to believe they really want to achieve 1080/60.

But, still a few weeks until its confirmed...I hope for titanfall fan that its at least 900p and locked 60, otherwise would be a huge let down.

What? That's software only... major archtecture revision? CPU, GPU, etc... alloccation is just matter of change the software.

Software achtecture, the 3 OS, hipervision, remember?

I think that is possible to get minor performance optmisation one at the time and in 2 or 3 years they can reach the 2% or less.

But any way, may be there was realy a major and single bottleneck they can eliminate that easy and that fast, without cripleling the snap and swap features.

If this ends up true, "balanced" meme is going to get used to death.

Its also clear as day that on the PR side they play down the performance difference as meaningless but internally they're desperate and panicked trying to close the gap as much as possible, most likely detriment to their original vision and feature set.
