I'm excited cause everyone knows that when Nintendo struggles is when gamers win

When they struggled with the Gamecube, gamers lost.

GameCube was for me the last time Nintendo consistently produced a wide variety of high quality content. I hope they go back to that on Wii U.

The GameCube had the best 1st party library ever, but the Wii had many great games.

What about StarFox Assault? It wasn't as bad as many put it out to be.

Too much time spent in badly controlled on-foot segments. Fox should stay in his Arwing; whenever he leaves it, awfulness ensues.

Wii had a fantastic lineup, it just wasn't all from Nintendo.

Nintendo really need to get back into their older franchises to cover more genres. As great as their Wii software was, and as much as I'm loving their Wii U output. It doesn't hit as many genres as they used to do. The Wii U in particular has been very platformer centric.

Foot missions were a bit clunky yes, and inferior to the Arwing gameplay but it was enjoyable, for me atleast.

I didn't miss the GC days; they made me virtually quit gaming for years because of how disappointing they were. Sure, it had some gems like Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, F Zero GX, but it also saw the butchering of Zelda, 3D Mario, and Starfox, and the lowest point in Nintendo's overall output quality.

LOL thats your opinion. nothing factual here.and highly debatable. i have all three games you listed as bad in my top for that era. in the very top.specially Mario and Zelda.so does the majority of people honestly. youre pretty much alone there.

and please RE4 is OK was great back then but is not a proper RE game. its a shooter.a good one , but nothing more. old RE >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>RE4>RER>RE5 any core gamer will agree on that.

Of course it's my opinion, I wrote it.

And I'm not pretty much alone; GC's low sales show it was not universally loved. As for RE, I'd argue that RE4 raised the series to greatness after years of being held back by terrible controls and awkward fixed camera angles in RE1-3.

As for Adventures, its pretty much what you'd get if you took Zelda/Banjo Kazooie, stripped away every ounce of cleverness and creativity, dumbed down the combat system to just mashing one button to win, and threw in some of the worst voice acting of the 6th gen.

I agree with curl-6, so he's definitely not alone. Zelda, 3D Mario, Starfox...and I would add Mario Kart and Wave Race to the list of disappointing entries into each of those franchises during the Gamecube era. Not that they are "bad" games by any means...but they didn't live up to my expectations of Nintendo's usual quality and standards...especially compared to their direct predecessors on the N64.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

I share curl´s opinion, especially when it comes to Mario Sunshine. The 'worst' 3D Mario by a long shot.

Exactly; coming off the amazing Ocarina of Time, Starfox 64, Mario 64, etc, it was just such a disappointment. All we wanted was for these awesome games to be taken to the next level, and instead we got watered down substitutes.

PFFFFFFF

Out of the 21m GC users 6M+ and 4.5M+ bought Zelda and Mario. Were also universally acclaimed by the media. Just look at Metacritic scores and user scores.

Adventures IS DInosaur planet period. The content of the game is the same in high percentage. Your just mad and stubborn because you liked Starfox shooter style more OK we get it. Adventures is a different game. and a good one by the way. Dont be a kid deal with it.

LOL Adventures has nothing to do with Banjo Kazooie please dont make yourself look like a fool.

@Boldedunderlined...

LOL raise the series to greatness yeah, look at it now....pretty great isn it?

Again youre alone amongst core gamers. Be happy living in your island.

As much as this seems like it was a huge step forwards, changing things like this (along with how limited equipment was in previous games) took away most of the tension the game had effectively stopping it being a "survival horror".

I loved RE4, but it was a completely different beast to the previous games and in a lot of ways I miss the stuff from the older games.

The Doors/Stairs were also for the most part a design choice to deliberately pace the game play. (much like the interesting control scheme decisions were). That was why Resident Evil: Code Veronica retained a lot of these design nuances.

Don't worry curl-6 I'm with you too.

The Gamecube was a disaster. I completely skipped the console and I don't regeret it. So far Wind Waker in the Wii U is my least favourite Zelda! I tried Star Fox Assault on a friends house and it sucked. F-Zero X was way better than F Zero GX! The good thing that came out of the gamecube was Pikmin and Metroid prime. Resident Evil 4 was also a great game too but it also came to the PS2 and it sold better on it. .
