Forums - Gaming - Titanfall not a system seller

Titanfall: Xbox One: 206,000 preorders
Titanfall: PC: 58,000 preorders
Titanfall: Xbox 360: 52,000 preorders

Its gonna sell a good amount of copies and push Xbox Ones. It will even persuade some customers from one system to another.

Don't think pre-orders mean much at this stage, next gen is game starved at the momnent so many are pre-ordering games for next gen much more (Infamous is near x1 titanfall and has 1 extra week), same as destiny, watch dogs.....In the long run the 80 + million install base of 360 and on top of that PC will sell quite a bit.

Most of tjhat 206000 is people who already have an x1.

I kind of agree, but not 100%. If it were ONLY on Xbox One, though, it could help a bunch.

Another thread for a game people say is over hyped.

It will push some HW, but not as much as some people on here think. As in levels to make up quite a bit of that 1.4M+ gap the PS4 has on the One, now. My prediction is that it may push past the PS4 for a week, maybe 2, but then it will fall below the PS4, again. Maybe closing the gap by 100K or so, then losing that in the following month.

MS has a tightrope to walk. On one hand, they need need big games for the One. On the other, they can't completely abandon the 360 like they want to, to focus on the new battle with Sony, since it will piss 360 owners off. This is what is going to limit the push Titanfall could have had on the One. Well, that and there's a PC version, and its almost a 100% that the sequels will be coming to the PS4.

All this shows is that there is potentially more interest in TF among Xbox One owners. Not suprising since there aren't many games available for the next gen systems yet.

But considering there are ~3.5 millon X1's sold already, that 206k pre-order number is most likely people who already own an X1 and are chomping at the bit for a new game. I don't think you can make the assumption that the higher pre-order numbers for TF on the X1 means that TF will be a system seller for new X1 purchases.

Agreed. Getting it on 360 lol

Which system? PC, 360, or XB1?

If it was exclusive to XB1, then I'd agree that it'll be a system seller. But I would guess that roughly half of all software sales are going to different platforms.

On top of this, Titanfall doesn't have enough mass appeal. No single player, no local multiplayer (no split screen). Those two things will be preventing big sales.

So I'll say that while it'll sell fine, it's by no means going to be a 'system seller' for XB1.

No one has ever seen any footage of the 360 version... It will greatly depend on how it's going to be advertised. GTA5 was multiplat and iirc moved more PS3 than 360... Although they were *very* close to each other.
It sounds more like "please be not a system seller, I don't like Xbone to have a successful game"...

The game was advertised like PS3 exclusive.

This 206,000 are probably from people that already bought an Xone.I still think that titanfall will not be a "System Seller"(Definition: A game that push a lot of consoles.More than usual) because you dont need a Xone If you have PC,or X360.

But you just said that 206,000 people already both the system in order to play Titanfall.
