Forums - Gaming - Titanfall not a system seller

Viltgance said:

Titanfall isn't really a console seller because alot of people are just going to buy it for 360 opposed to X1.  There is no real advantage to buying it on X1 except for maybe better graphics, but the gameplay is virtually identicle.

Titanfall on the X1 will definitely move some hardware. But I'm not anticipating a Halo or Gears of War impact.

We haven't seen the 360 version, I hope the gameplay is virtually identicle. That would be a great last hurrah for the 360.

I don't think it's a system seller per se, in that it probably won't suddenly cause Xb one to ratchet up sales to a new level for an extended period. But I do think the promise of Titanfall has helped Xb one sell systems from day one. That is, without Titanfall Xb one would have sold less than it has at present, IMO.

Its gonna sell a good amount of copies and push Xbox Ones. It will even persuade some customers from one system to another.

Naah it's also available on PC, which will be the best version, and everybody has a PC with better specs than XOne.

I think you just made me lose brain cells.

Going by this, why is infamous second son a system seller, when I can play infamous 2 on ps3?

O_o Surely you recognise the flaw in this logic.

Man, for a game that you all say is overrated, you really like to talk about it huh? I see more Titanfall threads from people who aren't even buying it than X1 fans. Lol

Its gonna sell a good amount of copies and push Xbox Ones. It will even persuade some customers from one system to another.

Flawed logic here too.

Firstly PC pre-orders are meaningless because a huge number of PC gamers download, so hard copy pre-orders do not at all reflect the demand for the game on PC.

Secondly, pre-orders of 258K for TF Xb one would be better than pre-orders of 206K. So every sale on 360 is a potential non-sale of the Xb one console. Let's say I was a 360 owner who is really anticipating Titanfall, and at the same time on the fence about Xb one or PS4 (say I was one of those millions who was a PS2 fan but then went to 360, for one of many possible reasons). Titanfall is not a reason to get Xb one, so it isn't helping to get me off the fence and into Xb one.

Multiplatform, multigeneration titles that are new IPs are rarely system sellers, so there's a lot of relatively unprecedented expectation placed on TF.

OTOH multiplatform, multigeneration existing IP, especially the annual releases such as Fifa and CoD are very important system sellers. Both PS4 and Xb one sales would have suffered a lot if CoD Ghosts and Fifa 14 weren't part of the launch schedule. Much as it galls me to say it because I wish the CoD "fad" (well the whole FPS craze actually) would be over already. Of course if Cod anf Fifa had been only on nexgen consoles they would have sold a lot more consoles, but Activision and EA would have sold a lot fewer games, and Acti and EA are about selling games first and helping nexgen sales second.

96% increase in UK 1st week... we await USA.

Price decrease on Xbox One just before, you don't know if the sales came from the Second Coming or the price decrease.

Hmm, pie.

Woopsie I guess eh?

I caved and bought the superior PC version, game still sucks imo.

Price cut was 28th Feb. Two weeks ago.

Just stop. lol

Price cut/sales were for Titanfall bundle mainly.

I'm not saying it's not a system seller, however due to UK's price decrease, we can't be sure of the impact it actually had until other figures come out, rest of Europe for example.

Hmm, pie.
