GE2 didn't sell 1 mil. I really don't think MH would.
And MH3U sold 500k only on WIi U |
God eater 2 sold 400k in only 2 month on Vita only in Japan, not being handheld exclusive. It's obviously an excellent score and there is no doubt MH would do much better, and far much better if it was handheld exclusive.
and MH3U sold only 500k in the world in 1 year. So it's not really good enough for capcom i think...
So yes pezus is right
Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:
PS4: 17m XB1: 10m WiiU: 10m Vita: 10m

Monster Hunter has never been popular on consoles. Out of 8 or 9 console MH games only Monster Hunter Tri for the Wii has sold more than 1 million. Also, http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2013/05/capcom_describes_monster_hunter_3_ultimate_as_a_smash_hit
OT: FUCK YEAH!!!!! I'm been waiting for a new MH on the west for so long. YES!!!!!!!!
Sad that it's coming on 2015 though :/

Not sure if serious. Have a look at GE on PSP and MH on PSP sales... Underlined: What does that have to do with our discussion? If anything it tells us that MH can sell well on anything, supporting my claim. |
Yes, it was serious. MH was a big hit on PSP. No one can say otherwise. We just need to look at MH3P sales. But the fact is MH made a good transition between system. Right now I can't see MH seeling 1mil+ on Vita.
GE2 sold ~400k on Vita until now. Decent numbers if you asked me.
I guess we will never know. Since the mainline series will stay on 3DS.
How about a Wii U port???
Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

MH3U shipped 500k by the end of March last year, on a newly released system at that. There's no reason to compare Wii U and Vita in this matter as it's 3DS and Vita.
There's no reason to release a Vita version instead of a 3DS, which would outsell it either way and Capcom aren't willing to release it multiplatform.

It's cleverer to release a Vita version instead of a 3DS when the game is a remake most monster hunter fans on 3DS already played this year, they would bring a new public and those who want a better MH version not only in content terms would re-buy the game.

That didn't stop millions of Japanese players from buying 4 Monster Hunter Freedom games on PSP (the lowest selling 1 million units and Monster Freedom Unite being the highest selling game in the franchise).

Starting to feel like my thread title should have "beware, ravenous fanboys" added to the end =P

While true, that's actually kind of reinforcing his point. 3 of the Monster Hunter Freedom games on PSP were remakes of PS2 titles (i.e. a different platform) and then 1 was a brand new title.
I don't think we've ever really seen this before where Capcom are releasing an expanded version to the same userbase. I'm sure it'll sell absolutely fine, just thought I'd point that out.
