Forums - Gaming Discussion - It's not about the framerate!

The power difference really isn't that huge its not like we are talking about original X-Box versus PS2 or SNES versus Sega Genesis/Megadrive where with those you could easily spot the power difference even without having side by side screen comparisons.

Its about teh games! Even if PS4 was 10x more powerful... at the end of the day I need Halo!

I was totally wrong about this thread. I was expecting a "Frame rate doesn't matter" thread and was prepared to say that if 60fps doesn't matter and neither does 1080p then why even get a next gen console?

Glad I was wrong.

I was actually thinking of this when I saw some people say 60fps doesn't matter when talking about Tomb Raider.

Like when it was first 1080p vs 720p.  It was stuff like, 720p doesn't matter, what matters is the framerate.  Or.  Can't even tell the difference between 720p and 1080p, still runs at 60fps, etc.

Now a game comes out that is 1080p 30 instead of 1080p 60, and people are like.  Can't even see a different between 60 and 30fps anyways(which 60fps over 30fps is easy to notice on any game that doesn't have a static camera.)

@chris hu
It is decidedly a bigger difference than last gen.
We saw the difference in the exclsuives...the.optimized games. We will see a bigger difference this gen than last.

For you, you mean. Because if that was universal, Xbone would've sold much more.

Still not as big a difference as with the examples that I have gave though.

Right now, the only sacrifices we're seeing on X1 are resolution or frames rate. Its like comparing a powerful PC to a less powerful PC. You can play the same games, but less powerful machine might have to lower the resolution.

The difference in raw power is bigger than PS2 to Xbox...

It's not as big of a power difference compared to the PS2 and Xbox.  Xbox was between two and four times more powerful overall.  Genesis was more powerful than the SNES though.

Yeah you are right, the power is clearly measurable. The PS4 is way more powerful and we have to spread this around the world! The more people that know about this the merrier, I'll start by telling my 6 year old brother and my dog!

Just once, I would like to see you reply in a way that isn't sarcastic.

As for not wanting to argue about it anymore, that was obvious @ people saying 720p > 1080p when Rubin talked of resolutions and stuff.

You are asking too much man. I can be pretty serious if the topic is interesting though! I am not interested in resolution, tits per second and what console has a longer dick though.

If you want a serious answer I can give you one though. These things don't matter! Not one bit. The PS3 was more powerful than my Wii but I enjoyed the hell out of those two. The Xbox One being weaker is not a big deall. Frankly I don't see what the fuss is all about, that's why you see my sarcastic remarks.
