Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft Responds To 'Games With Gold' Not Being As Good As 'Playstation Plus'

You do understand that you don't own games that you get in gold live. They digitals, you can't do anything with them except replay in 2-3 years. Which in 99% won't happen, because you won't have time for it.
And I bet that in 2-3 years you still pay for gold as PSN users pay for +, so we all can play our "free" games. So the difference only is what games do we play. I just downloaded Shadow of Colossus, Bioshock infinity(some say it's GOTY), Brothers(same GOTY for some critics) vita game, PS4 game. Those games I wanted to try out but don't want pay the asking price. So I win in this. Dunno if 360-users will ever get Bioshock in their gold subscription. Or Metro Last Light for that matter.

I bet the first game XBO will get is Forza 5 or Ryce. Selnor you clearly have those, what do you get for free eh?))
They need t give Titanfall or Halo 5...

I know saying PS+ is better than Gold is an opinion is pretty much an opinion, but at this point it may as well be fact to me. I'm subscribed to both services, and I can safely say PS+ is 100% better in nearly every aspect. People can argue about differences of "renting" and "owning" all they want, but at the end of the day, the PS+ catalogue is SO much better than the bargain bin titles they throw on Gold every month. Thanks for Halo 3 guys! You totally saved me $6!

Also, Microsoft just gives away games for 360, Sony gives games away for PS3, PS4, and Vita. Someone who owns all three systems is going to get six games per month! Why couldn't Microsoft give away XBO games at launch? Sony did with PS4. We've already gotten Resogun, Contrast, and Don't Starve. In a few months we'll be getting retail titles. Or why didn't Microsoft give away games on Windows Phones, I'd love that too. As long as Microsoft is too cheap to get a decent selection then Sony will have the upper hand.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Where I live I hear people say: "If you have PS+, you don't have to buy games any more".

Make of that what you will.

This, I stole from grandpa...It's called soap.

People keep saying how much money they "save" buy buying into Xbox Live and PSN+.

Here is the kicker. You don't save money, you spend it to get that, thus you saved nothing, what counts is the intrinsic value that you may find in such a pay wall and what is essentially DRM.

I wish Microsoft and Sony felt more threatened by Steam, at-least on Steam it's free to use and you get free games.

Theres no retail because theres no 6 month old games yet, thats when they will start, Drive Club had to be a cut down edition or Shops would of been loathe to even stock it, if you could get the full game for less by buying a Plus SUB. The full retail games will come, my bet would be the week after E3 with a big E3 announcment.

You flatter Sony to much if you think MS are copying Sonys lead of being a bit shit for the first year to magically turn it around at the following E3, most companies would just try and comepete with the current standard not emulate the other companies mis steps as well.

You only reinforce my point with the first paragraph.

@bold, 2 years. 2010-2012.

Also, I didn't say they were copying what Sony did. I actually detailed why they DON'T need to copy Sony with the 360 Games with Gold.

Your right it is 2 years my time flys.

But the reason youve not seen retail on PS4 yet has nothing to do with the fact that they now charge for online, there just is no back catalogue yet. With Vita they just waited 6 months before they included it in PLUS, this is what MS are doing with the X One.  This time Sony have decided to give away brand new indie games for the first 6 months till there is a back catalogue of retail games to choose from, as they often give away brand new indie titles on PS3 and Vita too.

Drive club is a PS+ edition, becuase they have NEVER given a retail game away free on its launch. This is just a special case most likely a trial to see how many people will pay to upgrade to the full version.

So there is no evidence to suggest Sony is going to scale back on there offering just because there charging for online now. If anything the evidence points to the opposite as in the last 10 months the PS3 games have just got better and better.

What i think will happen over the next 12 months from E3 onwards is they will scale up the PS4 games, while scaling down the PS3 games to try and get more people to upgrade to the PS4.

Microsoft owes their community so much more for all the nickel and diming.

MS doesn't owe anything. Nobody was forced to buy Xbox products.

Sony fucked up for much of the 7th gen and that forced them to be more competitive. MS should offer more to compete with Sony, not because they owe it.

Who said they had to force you Some people dont complain because they cant see things not do they like to get confrontational when things matter (Thats definitely not me.). Sony has given Sony gamers quite a bit over the years. When owning both systems its about time Microsoft did the same when they've been profiting more and giving back little to nothing.

You're talking nonsense.

Sony didn't give shit when they were making great profits. Now that they're struggling and many of their fans left... they created some services that are a good value.

Now MS is in a positition where Gold needs to be a greater value.

Games nowadays have, mostly, 6-8 hours worth of single player. After that, it's garbage to me. So, I prefer to keep my garbage digital and not have to pay a buckload for it, thank you very much. Rent it is, then, if rent is how some people call it.

I have a feeling you play FPS alot. Most games nowadays seem to have campaigns on the dozens of hours.

Also, ever heard about reselling your stuff (wich you dont care about) and getting some money back?

I play little fps. Isn't GoW3 around 6-8 hours? Or even U3?

Yes, I've heard about such a thing. But I don't like to get in the trouble. So... 50$ a year and all trouble is over.

This, I stole from grandpa...It's called soap.
