Just joined PS+ two days ago. Seems like good value so far on PS3. Waste of time on PS4 though until it has some games. Otherwise I'd just be paying to play online.

I liked the service from the beginning, but... I have not been a consistent subscriber because I simply don't play enough to take advantage of all the monthly free games; I already have more retail games than I'll ever be able to play.
Second, many of the monthly free games were games that I had already purchased, particularly on the PS Vita.
Since the service became available, I've done 2 or 3 one month subscriptions (free ones) plus 2 paid 3 month subscriptions, which were purchased when the PSN Store was offering discount deals that instantly paid for the $17 or whatever it is SCE charges, plus the free access to some games that I played during the subscription.
With the addition of the PS4, even though I still don't play online with other people (I'd done one session with a real life friend since I bought it), the $30 Black Friday 12 month subscription was simply too low to pass up.
At this point, the only disadvantage of PSN + is that I will be in more free games than I will be able to play before my subscription runs out unless all I play are free games. I'm continuing to take advantage of the discounts as well, which have just about paid for my $30 subscription less than 2 months into the subscription.
With all three systems in one's possession, one would have to either be nuts not to subscribe, or simply buy so many games that they already have everything the service gives free access to or discounts. But considering these people have to subscribe if they play online with the PS4, it's not even an option anymore. Even so, all the free stuff makes it well worth the fee.
If they do another $30 12 month Black Friday deal next year, I'll probably pick up 24 months more of service.

:( I don't even know why I bothered to get a PS4 and what makes it worse is that I'm a trophy hunter -_- I might just not bother buying games for next gen thanks to PS+ and my backlog |
yeah unless there's some great Plus deal on a game I haven't tried I'm not buying anything other than Infamous Second Son until September (the CE for the same price as regular got me and I'm super stoked anyway). Yet Plus is going to be keeping me busy. I might go for platinum on AC4 since the supposed MP ones can be done by yourself. Batman I'll probably just do IatK difficulty and beat the premade challenges. I hate MP trophies and never go for them because they're rarely fun for me (yes I hunt trophies for challenge and fun). I'll definitely get Ratchet's as it apparently isn't difficult and is all the stuff I do anyway in those games (platinumed all the ones with trophies so far without even really trying). Resogun I'm saving the platinum for Summer when everything is cleared out hopefully. I'm not going for it on the others as they're either too time-consuming or have trophies that don't look fun (usually grindy ones). I'll probably get a 3DS and WiiU next but only if I ever clear my backlog otherwise they will wait till I have time for them.

Me and you aren't so different. I'm also a trophy hunter but only when I know it's possible and that I'll have fun with it. Like you, I also avoid time-consuming or grinding trophies. There's only soo many hours I can play and with work, it's even more difficult.

Actually I just remembered I was going to do Puppeteer's platinum when I finished all my games...ah screw it AC4 isn't worth discovering every location and doing the MP leveling lol. Guess it's just Ratchet and Puppeteer. I haven't even looked at Kingdoms, Borderlands, or Dragon's Dogma's lists because I'm assuming they all have something assenine as RPGs normally do lol

Dragon's Dogma looks pretty attainable if it's the same as 360's version. I'm playing it now (again) so everything's on hold! That game I would have gladly gotten PS+ for if I hadn't gotten the first one on day one for 360. I had to choose between porting my save or getting Dark Arisen for free, Porting the save from the original won out.
The point of this story? Play more Dragon's Dogma!
I got PS+ for $30 when Amazon had the digital code Black Friday deal, so for what has been available on PS4, the price is worth it ($2.50/month).

Hope they do another one this year. I should have bought 24 or 36 months at that price.
Between the PS3, PSV and PS4, there's no way I can even play all the games they're giving open access to, but it's always nice to know they're installed when I want to play something new.
| Mirson said: When PS+ was announced, I totally thought it was a waste of cash, and a few months after the program started running, I felt I was correct on my initial assumption. $2 off some DLC nobody wants..woo! Some old games for free...woo! Access to beta that eventually becomes public...woo! The free PS+ trial Sony gave us after the Credit Card fiasco did nothing for me as well. However, I, like many others, jumped on the Black Friday deal, but didn't enroll in it until a week later. In just less than two months, I definitely got my $30 worth and even more. Here's what did it for me:
As for the features, they're pretty neat. I can have my PS3 turn on by itself while I'm at work, so it could update my games & system and also upload game saves. Sony definitely stepped it up with the PS+ program, and hopefully they keep this momentum going. Just wanted to give my two cents and admit I was wrong.
Am I the only one who hated PS Plus at first but now likes it? |
You have been missing out for quite a while. PSPLus has been awesome the 2 years I have had it

I always thought it was good value but something I didn't necessarily need since I prefer to own hardcopy games. But because I buy plenty, I'm too broke to buy all the ones I want. The $30 Black Friday deal was too good to pass up, and as a result I finally got to play Bioshock Infinite.
I also have a few other free games from a previous free month. Since I don't really play online much I probably won't renew unless I find a similar deal.
