I liked the service from the beginning, but... I have not been a consistent subscriber because I simply don't play enough to take advantage of all the monthly free games; I already have more retail games than I'll ever be able to play.
Second, many of the monthly free games were games that I had already purchased, particularly on the PS Vita.
Since the service became available, I've done 2 or 3 one month subscriptions (free ones) plus 2 paid 3 month subscriptions, which were purchased when the PSN Store was offering discount deals that instantly paid for the $17 or whatever it is SCE charges, plus the free access to some games that I played during the subscription.
With the addition of the PS4, even though I still don't play online with other people (I'd done one session with a real life friend since I bought it), the $30 Black Friday 12 month subscription was simply too low to pass up.
At this point, the only disadvantage of PSN + is that I will be in more free games than I will be able to play before my subscription runs out unless all I play are free games. I'm continuing to take advantage of the discounts as well, which have just about paid for my $30 subscription less than 2 months into the subscription.
With all three systems in one's possession, one would have to either be nuts not to subscribe, or simply buy so many games that they already have everything the service gives free access to or discounts. But considering these people have to subscribe if they play online with the PS4, it's not even an option anymore. Even so, all the free stuff makes it well worth the fee.
If they do another $30 12 month Black Friday deal next year, I'll probably pick up 24 months more of service.
