Forums - Sony - I was wrong about PS+

I see that it just cost like €/$3 per month, which is not much at all really. Since this thread actually got me interested now I have a few Q's about the PS+.

1. Can I cancel it whenever I want to?
2. There are 1(one) free game available each month?
3. The next month that game will no longer be free?
4. If I buy PS+ today will I have missed out on all the previous free games?(they are no longer free for me?)
5. Does the free game(s) differ from country/region?
6. If yes, will I be able to download free game(s) from US, UK and HK PS stores with just my HK PS+ subscription? Or will I only be able to get the games from the PS store that I connect my PS+ to?

That way you wouldn't feel like you're being punished for coming to it late or screwed over if you miss adding a game to your download queue before it expires since there're so few added each month, You'd also get a much better chance of playing all the games in a series for example instead of just getting the 3rd title, etc.

The secret is always redeeming your free download. You don't even have to do it on a PS3, access the PSN store on web and get all of them and download when you can. I actually redeemed Resogun and Contrast without having a PS4. When I buy one, I will already have 2 games for it :D

1. You can buy a 1-month subscription, 3-months or a year subscription. After that, you can decide to renew it or not, but be sure to turn off auto-renew off. Otherwise, you'll be subscribed automatically when your original subscription ends.

2. There's more than 1 game per month. This month we got DMC, BioShock and some Vita games (don't pay attention to those since I don't own a Vita).

3. Some get taken off after a month or a few months, but they let you know when it's going to be taken off. If you downloaded the game when it was for free, you can play it for free even it's not available in the instant game collection anymore.

4. Only those that didn't get taken off. Download them so you can secure them for life!

5. Yes

6. I think only through the PS store you're PS+ is connected to. There's a faq at the bottom of this link that might help you understand the program better and also give you a good look at the types of games they offer (US at least).

My PS+ subscription is good until December 2015 so I'm happy with it and I think it's a good deal. I just wish it was setup more like Netflix. For example there are hundreds of older PS3 games out there so why instead of having 16 games or whatever it is a month they couldn't have 100-120 older games with maybe 10-20 newer games.

That way you wouldn't feel like you're being punished for coming to it late or screwed over if you miss adding a game to your download queue before it expires since there're so few added each month, You'd also get a much better chance of playing all the games in a series for example instead of just getting the 3rd title, etc.

I think you might get that sort of thing with a PlayStation Now subscription, which does seem as if it will be separate

The service is just too cheap to offer all of that content on demand. Netflix is twice as expensive and the product it offers is cheaper on pay per view and easier to pirate. I think you'd have to charge ~$15 to have access to that amount of content

I took advantage of the Black Friday deal ($30) and bought 4 years worth of subscriptions. On top of what I already had, my subscription won't run out until March of 2018. I could not be happier with the service and my biggest gripe is that I don't have time to play all of the games that are offered.

I have been a PS+ subscriber since day 1 and while it was good at the start it definitely has gotten much better in terms of the number and quality of games they give away with your sub.

Plus I have been amassing a catalogue of Vita games so the day I finally do get my hands on one (soon, very soon) I will have so many games to play I most likely won't have to buy any games for quite some time.

I got it one month free with my PS4 and decided to try it out. After getting the free games I was impressed and bought 24 months for $60 during the holidays. Have taken advantage of some deals and more free games. That alone makes it worth it to me. I am really surprised as I never expected to use it.

it was worth it from the start imo. i have more games then i know what to do with, its the console equivalent of steam sales

I had $10 from PS4 launch in my wallet so I got Blood Dragon and Bioshock today.

Now just one question for all of you. Thomas was Alone or Lone Survivor?

I've played both and I would highly recommend Lone Survivor.

Thomas was alone is good but extremely short.

I need to stop buying games...

When PS+ was announced, I totally thought it was a waste of cash, and a few months after the program started running, I felt I was correct on my initial assumption. $2 off some DLC nobody wants..woo! Some old games for free...woo! Access to beta that eventually becomes public...woo! The free PS+ trial Sony gave us after the Credit Card fiasco did nothing for me as well.

However, I, like many others, jumped on the Black Friday deal, but didn't enroll in it until a week later. In just less than two months, I definitely got my $30 worth and even more. Here's what did it for me:

  • BioShock Infinite - A game that was released not too long ago and retails for $30 on Amazon. I enjoyed the previous BioShock games, and I'm glad I get to try the latest one without spending extra cash.
  • Deus Ex HR Director's Cut - Was going to buy this (also $30), but when I saw it was going to be on sale for $13, I jumped at it. I've sold my original copy for around $20, so that pretty much paid my new DE copy and a little more.
  • Tales of Xillia - For $10. Nuff' said
  • Also got a bunch of PSN titles for half price.

As for the features, they're pretty neat. I can have my PS3 turn on by itself while I'm at work, so it could update my games & system and also upload game saves. Sony definitely stepped it up with the PS+ program, and hopefully they keep this momentum going. Just wanted to give my two cents and admit I was wrong.

Am I the only one who hated PS Plus at first but now likes it?

Do you consider relying on PS+ to cover your gaming needs? Cut down the number of games you buy and be content with what PS+ offers you?
