No.  Vita is not as powerful as the PS3.  Not even close, in fact.  What it does have is modern shaders and a lower resolution which allows for visuals that can look similar to PS3.  But take into account physics, A.I., polygon count, instancing (number of characters or objects on screen), etc... and PS3 moves way ahead.

No, I don't, because it's January.

And that's the problem, but we do know some titles that coming to Vita this year.

Nintendo holds a major investor relations meeting at the end of January every year.  That is when they announce many of the titles for the upcoming year and why every year it seems like nothing is coming to Nintendo consoles the upcoming year....because we don't learn of most of them until Janurary.

Monster Hunter > all of Vita's exclusives combined in terms of market impact.

3DS looks like it's pretty much a lock to get Dragon Quest XI as well now that Mr. Horii shot down the idea of a phone/tablet version first. 

Nintendo really only needs MH + DQ to wipe the floor with the Vita anyway. 

Honestly though, both have somewhat poor third party lineups.

The PSP had far better third party support than the Vita ... Monster Hunter, original GTA games, original MGS games, Final Fantasy, proper Ridge Racer games, etc. etc. It seems to me like Western devs are also ditching the Vita ... no second Call of Duty game for example. 

Many developers are focusing on iOS/Android this gen it looks like. Perhaps that huge success of that Puza Dora game or whatever on the 3DS (looks like its headed for 1.5 million sold) will bring some Japanese devs running back to the 3DS.

While you argue how meaningful the third party titles the Vita has, I'm not sure you can outright claim the 3DS has more. There is ton of indies, PSM, and other small titles that it shares with other platforms but not on 3DS.

Funny how vita games are crap compared to MH on 3ds, but MH on 3ds is hardly an improvement over MH on PSP.
That probably just makes things even worse for the vita =/ .... but then again I downloaded MH on my vita...
