As for all the God of War ripoff posts, I wonder if they'd say Devil May Cry and Castlevania Lament of Innocence are also God of War ripoffs.

You mean you want your gothic Metroid clones right? :P something about "Metroidvania" as a genre term really bugs me.

I actually think the Metroid clone CastleVanias are an awful abomination now too. I want the real CastleVania games back! (Super CastleVania IV and Bloodlines! were EPIC!) Rondo of Blood on PC Engine was great, but then they went too much in the metroid direction. Symphony of the Night was fun, but lacked the great level design of all the predecessors.

As for Konami, I think they're a lost cause, the industry has moved on and they've tried too hard to adapt and lost what made a lot of their franchises great in the process.

Devil May Cry was about years before God of War...

The last time I was excited about Konami was when TMNT the arcade game came out.

Oh I get it now. He means the Lords of Shadow games, actually follow on from previous CastleVania games. Though I never really enjoyed the PS2 CastleVania games. Even though they should have been amazing.
