Just to clarify. DMC could never be a GOW ripp off as its the father of the modern action game. Seriously, this genre has not evolved since. Lament of Innocence is definitely a DMC clone though.

Konami is my favorite company and it's sad they don't have as many games as in the 80's-90's. But I still enjoy their games a lot. I really liked Mirror of Fate, don't know why is hated so much, in fact I actually liked it more than Lords of Shadow which I found a bit disappointing.

Licensed games I remember were Tiny Toons, TMNT, Batman Returns and Animated Series, Animaniacs.... I don't remember more. Fortunately all of them were great games, unlike Ocean who also had a lot of licensed titles and they sucked.

But Konami had a lot of original games too: Contra, Castlevania, Sunset Riders, Lethal Enforcers, Sparkster, The Legend of the Mystilca Ninja, Gradius, Parodius, baseball games (in Japan), the ISSS series (now Pro evolution soccer).

I don't think they can return.

They had so many great franchises, and now they are all dying.
PES is bad compared to FIFA
Silent Hill is gone
Castlevania is good on consoles (even though I don't like the GoW style) and bad on handhelds (I miss metroidvania style)
Legend of the mystical ninja gone
Contra gone
Metal Gear is doing fine but they cannot live out of 1 franchise
Suikoden gone
And they use to made small but good efforts with another franchises and licenses

I have not bought a Konami game since Lords of Shadows on 2010, and I don't see myself buying anything in the next few years.
