They really don't like Nintendo games it seems. Even though the 3DS was the bestselling console there, Nintendo games are not exactly blazing up the charts.

Yeah, 3DS did 600k for the year? PS3 averages 1m, 360 averaged more than that. Same situation as the US just worse, 3DS is selling under all 3 last gen home console averages 3 years in.

I don't watch much TV so I can't really comment, I remember 2DS being heavily advertised over christmas tho. Billboards, buses, everything.

3DS was up very slightly in the US in 2013, and very slightly in the UK too. Where is your evidence for people switching back?

Sony has a better base for nostalgia there than Nintendo. :P

But yes, they'd rather play "next gen" multiplats at the most affordable price, that's what's selling PS4s now rather than Knack or Killzone. The PS4 is simply a much better value than anything Nintendo sells and its incredibly narrow library with overpriced/underpowered hardware. Nintendo only sells supplementary consoles now days, consoles you only buy after you have a nice PC or Sony/Microsoft console.

The Wii was sold primarily to the expanded market. Primarily. Its not something that people talk about for the fear of getting moderated, jumped on or whatever... But the Wii really was a console with a userbase that simply wasnt dedicated. They werent all Mario fans, they didnt really care about Zelda, they couldnt give a shit about Metroid and Kirby is irrelevant.

They liked Wii Sports. They liked Wii Fit. Children loved playing the mini games and adults loved plugging the Wii in for some party games on the weekend piss up.

Nintendo abandoned that market and released a console more aimed at PS3 and 360 gamers, as you can tell by software released at launch and throughout 2013. To these gamers, Nintendo games arent a priority and thus the system isnt an attractive purchase. The mass market werent going to jump onto a system that offered them nothing. Another 2D Mario wasnt going to cut it and the people who want tablet games already have a tablet.

Its overpriced. The competition is far more promising. Better Nintendo software is available on a platform that actually has support, the 3DS. They also lost a large chunk of the mass market to Xbox already, thanks to Kinect.

Wii U is in deep shit here and in all honesty, I dont expect Nintendo to drag it out of the hole. I dont think theyre capable of dragging it out of the hole.

I have a nice pc, but the last time I bought one of these "modern" games people are talking about it sucked and was filled with so many bugs and poorly optimized. And I'm not talking about a small game, it was Rome Total War 2. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything by not buying these "hardcore" multiplays.
