Forums - Sales - PS4 sold 250k, Xbox One 100k in Germany

Yes GFK is 100% reliable.

Well the problem is none of them are 100% reliable, so all we can go with is sources and those that are as reliable as can be. Considering the number of boxes that were on the shelves in Germany pretty early on, the numbers are not a surpise.

I couldn´t find any evidence to suport that claim.

Only thing google returns are their reports on software sales but no comments for either companies. Most of Microsfot or Sony related articles are from the last 10 hours and this especific report.

Also, couldn´t find the complete report and its details.

You can't be serious?

Every time any MS, Sony or Nintendo PR says the sales (not shipment) in Europe... they are using GFK... every document about sales in Europe shows a note saying the numbers are based in GFK.

GFK is older than NPD and more accurate too... I don't remember the correct numbers but they are like:

GFK: 90% of the retail tracked
NPD: 60% of the retail tracked (before they added Walmart)
Famitsu/Media Create: 40-50% of the retail tracked

From the these official trackers used by Nintendo, MS and Sony the GFK is the one that uses less estimates in the numbers.

Please, link a report that show that, this is interesting since this is the first hardware chart they do.

not 100% but It's very reliable, all figures for the softwares in Europe are given by GFK.

You are linked to that... easy to find example.

Further evidence. That 3m in 2013 makes no sense with the info we have

Pretty much. For them to have sold through 3M+ with the numbers we do have, NPD would have to show the total for Xbox One in the US is 2.1M+. I don't think that happened.

Not official numbers.

For a country as large and with such a strong economy they a very low numbers.

NeoGaf has banned VGChartz numbers.

Numbers in OP are official, source is in the gaf link.

"The figures are derived from the market research company Media Control GfK."

market research

How different is that from NPD? None. These are the most official numbers you'll ever get country wise until Nintendo updates that chart they show with each quarterly results.

And how is it different from VGChartz?

As wrong that VGChartz might be, and they are a lot, it at least has a long record.

NPD has what? 20 years of experience and historical data.

One thing I can assure you, neither Microsoft nor Sony  were using VGchartz numbers to give their last month total sales. So, unless VGchartz re-arranges rest of the world sales there is very little room to give or take sales for both consoles.

And for that matter, it dosen´t matter small local variations, the big picture is still  overral 4 to 3 sales. With the formar being cheaper and with a broader distribution.

Looking at the posts above, it seems I was wrong. Even the companies use GFK numbers in their PR, like Nintendo. Therefore GFK is 100% reliable.

that's good. way to go ps4.

I'm surprised the difference is that large as I've never seen a PS4 in stores here, while X1s are readily available at most retailers.

The answer is in your question.

The PS5 Exists.

Further evidence. That 3m in 2013 makes no sense with the info we have

We know official tracking for the year from Germany, Spain, UK.  Meanwhile we have half the year for the United States and France and a little bit of Australia, and virtually nothing for the other 7 territories. The only thing that doesn't make sense is that with so little info you are assuming official numbers make no sense. I mean maybe if December NPD sales were out and they have the xbone only selling 500k in December you can argue that the 3mil makes no sense. But as of know it basically just sounds like you don't like the sales, and I'm trying to figure out why because they are much lower than ps4's sales anyway.

As for specifically Germany 60k difference between vgchartz and official numbers is huge. That is like a 40% difference... PS4 is doing amazing though. Really thrashing the competition in all the major European markets.

Giving only 250k consoles to one of the biggest gaming markets is really bad. Sony should really step up the production. I don't think the supply issues will be resolved before september if they don't do anything drastic.
