Halo 3 - A lot of my favorite gaming moments of this gen happened playing this online. It is also probably tied for my post played game of this generation along with Heroes of Newerth.

Honorable Mentions:
Dark Souls (Very close to taking game of the generation. But I've had too many memorable experiences in halo 3)
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (It was my first truely open world game, so it felt more special than skyrim)
Mass Effect 2 (which is weird since I didn't really like it the first time I tried it. Truly a special experience though)
The World Ends With You (Biggest suprise for me since I'm not usually a big jrpg fan. Excellent use of all of the DS's features.

GoTG - Dead Space.

for things I've only experienced this generation was the fear that game instilled while playing it, so amazing better than any Hollywood movie has done since I was about 12 watching IT.

Other games which stuck in my mind as just amazing pieces of work
-Beatles Rockband. An amazing homage to a fantastic group.
-Little Big Planet1/2/vita Those games are crafted with love, you can feel it in every stage.
-Bioshock, I played it before dead space and it was good... but no where near the same lvls of atmosphere as dead space got to.
-Layton and the unwound future - Because I almost damaged my DSlite with tears... "A Gentleman always wears his Hat"
-Halo Reach - But you belong to Reach... your body, your armor.
-Gears 2 - Dom.... it's okie Dom.....

Honestly I'm a sucker for a good tugging on the heart strings, be it with Joy in Lbp, Horror or sadness those are the games that stay with you long after the credits have rolled.

Edit - It might be an idea to put a post limit on being able to vote here, just a fairly large number of votes from accounts with sub 20 posts, would someone want to bend the results of a simple poll for fun? Cool thread tho Bugrimmar, love reading peoples thoughts on the games that got them the most.
