China has a huge potential. And it can be a bigger market eventually (eventhough that would mean that everyone in china is on the level of EU/US/JP and the world economy is not even nearly big enough to feed such a demand, but right now its by far not as big as EU+US+JP combined. There are about 800 Million people on the same level in all 3 "countries" (EU is not a country) combined. China right now is 20%-25% of those three. If really 300 Million Chinese would be on the level of say US that would mean the economy would be as big as US Economy which it is not. Its about Germany+Japan size. |
Yes you are right about this, because I never meant to say that the Chinese console market would be the biggest in the world, it won't and I agree with you.
But the potential for the future is there, no doubt about it. But like I said, there must be a more Chinese-style console for it to really sell in high volumes. Even if the PS4 would cost 300 €/$ here and the games would cost 30 at launch, it would hardly sell. It's just not a reasonable price for gaming.
And I see that people keep saying that Xbox would sell better than PS and Nintendo. Your views on China are very strange to me, it abolutely won't sell better than PS. PlayStation has always been the best seller here and it also will be in the future. Just a week after the PS4 launch in the USA I could find PS4 imports at many places, but I still have not seen a single X1 anywhere. And people are telling me that in my country X1 would be the market leader? Dream on.
Korea and Japan is what we associate games with here. Korea for PC games and Japan for consoles games.
Release a console that is based on Android and can play android games. The hardware doesn't need to be very expensive and people would buy it, I can guarantee this. Or if Microsoft would be willing to create a second consle for the Chinese market that would allow us to play PC games on a cheap hardware in the livingroom, this could work too!
