Nintendo accepted that they won't get much help from 3rd party developers this gen and will make as many 1st party games as they can.

Is it so hard to believe that studios hire more people when they realize they are behind schedule and in danger of not meeting the deadline for release?

I refuse to believe they're having trouble meeting Tropical Freeze's already-delayed-by-three-months deadline when its not much more than a Wii game in HD, and they've been free to work on it since November of 2010.

Shouldn't the words "already delayed" and "since November 2010"  ring alarm bells regarding the proficiency of the developers?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I don't know if it necesseray means more games. The 3DS being more powerful and the WiiU being HD, it require more people for the same amount of games in the end...

Retro are one of the most talented teams in the industry. The delay to Feb was almost certainly a strategic one; Nintendo realized they would be left with no major games in the first quarter of the year again, and used DKC as a stopgap.

They are not behind schedule, by this moment the game has gone gold, and even if you hire a battalion of people there is nothing they can do in just 2 weeks. They are hiring for the NEXT project, that must be in the initial phases, they should be testing gameplay mechanics, writting the script, working on the engine and all that stuff. So people who join now will be working almost from the begining of the project and they can learn all they need before the deadlines start coming.

By the way whatever they are working on, will not be ready to show at E3 2014, unless they want to make a trailer like uncharted for PS4, a lot of nothing.

They have not been completly FREE since November 2010. Most likely a few members of the team (the tech and art guys) started working to port their engines to HD, while the other part of the team (the designers and game scripters) helped in another projects, like Mario Kart 7 and DKC Returns for 3DS.

There have been a pretty large flux of Nintendo threads recently.
