Forums - Microsoft - Neogaf/Cboat owned yet again over Xbox ESRAM yield claims

to quote myself,

"if you stick to your orignal spec and the yeilds are currently low the intial shipments will have expensive chipsets (~chip cost = (wafer cost)/((chips per waffer)*(yeild%)) ) and probably lower stock at launch.  that cost will quickly come down in price when the yeild issues are figured out in what i'll assume is a few months time."   post

so evidence in support of low yeild:
3M vs. 4.2M; launch publically cut from 21 to 13 territories  - lower stock
$500 vs. $400 (+kinect but -raw power)  - expensive chipset

evidence in dispute:
     a pic of unsold xbones

...i'll let the reader decided.

The CBOAT claim wasn´t of a incompleted OS, but a OS that was broken and totaly unusable, specificaly the snap/swap feature.

He also confused a not friendly party chat implementation with a situation that would freeze and reboot aplications.

Both situation you listed happens more times than you belive in Xbone... the snap/swap makes the OS slow when you use it and more more until you need to reboot the console (cold boot)... the Party Chat implementation didn't work in most times and you need to reboot the app... it crashs a lot too while playing MP games.

MS is working hard to remade the Party Chat system... the first big update will be focused in these comunity part of the system that are receibing most critics from the gamers.

OS problems were a straight foward lie, in fact.

Yeild issues are a little harder to prove or disprove. MS could be spending a buttload of money in production, and we may never know unless AMD/Foundry disclaim there roports, which they won´t.

i dont understand why people think that when its said there are OS problems it means that the OS is completely ususable.

1- Horrid Party chat Issues

2- Even though it was announced very early, no game streaming

3- You can not see the amount of space you used in the HDD

4- Memory leak that causes the OS/navigation to be choppy and laggy

Those are all OS/System issues and problems, so i would say, Cboat/Gaf was/were right.

No proof. Cling to negative FUD anyway.

Yup. Lets all do that.

Again my friend, those are very small anouances compared to what CBOAT and his accolites at NeoGaf were picturing for the XOne.

And you can just gather a list of OS problems for the PS4, the PS3, Vita, Samsung Galaxy, iOS 7, Windows 7/8.....

No, what CBOAT was talking was of widespread catastrophics failures.

could you link me to where Cboat said there will be a widespread catastrophic failures? because i dont remember him posting that.

OS issues on PS3, PS4 vita, galaxy or any other device are completely irrelevant. as cboat was talking about the xbox one only. no comparison was made and frankly, they dont matter in this subject, again, this is all about xbox one.

Geez he wasnt wrong obviously ms changed things after he said it or he only heard the beginning of the sentence duh cobalt is never wrong

Except when he is and everyone makes excuses for him

No one could tell if they have yield/production issues because they produce more than they can sell anyway.

damn, this was rough.

Thanks jlmurph!

If CBOAT ever spills publicly what s/he shared via PM regarding a myriad of other technical issues going on right now…I’m going right back in that shelter and welding it shut.

http://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/xbox-one-rushed-hardware-games-at-900p-hardware-fa-30850978/?page=4

CBOAT has gone on the record to say that the console is being rushed to the market, and that Microsoft have not planned the hardware properly- according to him, a 2014 release for the console would have been much suited, because as it stands now, the console will almost certainly have reliability issues like the Xbox 360′s Red Ring of Death.

The console in question [the one that CBOAT is talking about] is a zebra turned stress machine for hardware/heat issues testing.”

More leaks from the snap crashes (one of the Xbox One's best features IMO) and general OS faults.

I don't know if I'm being to cynical but does this mean every UI video Microsoft have shown has been a representation of the final product? Sony must be glad they done a real time demo at Gamescom.

http://www.spawnfirst.com/news/xbox-one-os-issues-update-snap-problem/

In another set of tweets (which I won’t embed due to expletives), he states the following:

1. PSN is much further ahead than Xbox Live. XB1 Online is clusterf–k city.

2. Snap feature is causing stupid amounts of crashes.

3. And this is from a dev: “No matter what they do with tools, ES RAM will always be a bottleneck. No chance in hell for parity with PS4.”
