Once again VGChartz updates their numbers with the "rest of the world" sales. Oh, boy.
They are very consistent with their numbers, and respectfull accurated.
They shouldn´t try to hide their past prediction/estimatives.
Amazing figures! Makes me wonder how many systems Sony have alocated to the Japanese launch. Either we will see extreme shortages in January and early February in other territories to build up inventory for the Japanese launch, or we'll see it launch in Japan with quite low numbers because of supply issues, maybe as low as 300 000.
Either way, Sony is well on their way of reaching their target of 5 million systems for this fiscal year (ending March 31). If they have enough production capacity this early on, it's heading for at least 6 million systems by the end of Q1.
I still don't think it will overtake WiiU Before the end of the first quarter, but chances are getting better for that to happen as early as May, which is a lot faster than I anticipated last week.
I still have it up for 620 000-800 000 systems in January, with another 700 000-900 000 in February thanks to the release in Japan, and then a dramatic drop in March to 500 000-600 000 systems. All in all 1,82-2,3 million systems in Q1. Meaning it will pass 6 million, maybe even reach 6,5 million. The question is, can Sony produce that many systems? Can they on such a short notice increase their production with 20-25 % to meet demand?

The sales being what they are. Geographical availability, cheaper, positive PR and all..... I get it that fans are happy with the news. But I just raise an eyebrow at some posts here thats all. |
Sweet Jesus, the butthurt by you guys is ridiculous. 4.2M for the PS4 is "expected" (when it's well above expectations. Sony was talking 5M by March. PS4 will sell more than 800k by then). But 3M for the Xbone is "OMGWTFBBQ?!?! You're just a hater if you don't appreciate this number!" Even though that's right in line with what was expected. PS4 is what's breaking expectations. XBone is what's meeting them.
Now be quiet and appreciate that both are selling so well

Why didn't VGC adjust the numbers to 4.2m?
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
Nice tracking by vgchartz. Good job.
PS4 is sold out since launch in the Netherlands.
