Agreed.
OUYA, Sony Xperia Play, Windows Surface, VITA TV, Zune. Most hardware devices fail.
There's no need for this device. I can't see it take off.
lol and Swedish retailer Webhallen is listed as a supporting manufacturer. I love Webhallen but I never thought I would see their name listed on a worldwide site.
I want one.. pure for the idea of buying one now and 10 years from now when I upgrade my Steammachine all games in my collection will still be playable on the newer machine..
if they have a team which can port older titles or make them compatible I would buy it in an instant..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)
How many faster is really the Nvidia GTX 760 over the Radeon R9 270? To me they sound about equal, but then I'm also a huge AMD fan.

What do you mean "as a concept"? The Steam-box OS and online system and Steam console/PC-hybrid hardware box are tied together and will fail or succeed as one unit, don't you think?
I have no idea who this is for. PS gamers are PC gamers for a reason, they're not going to get a console just because Valve is behind it. And console gamers are content with Sony/MS/Nintendo. This will be a major flop.
Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
Will it do 4k ???
I almost got a 4k tv if steam machine did it and had many 4k games they could entice me.
If not consoles are more then enough

But the formula: create a hardware spec and let other manufacture, brand it and sell is something that didn't worked before (3DO being sold by the unknown 3DO company, that was in reality a joint-venture with Panasonic, Sanyo, Goldstar, etc). You need a powerfull and well-known brand on it to sell at retail. And that partners aren't well-known in a consumer eletronics perpective, just in a computer parts perpective. They are targetting consoles. I really believe that PC gamers prefer PC like they are now, or they would be on consoles. They are going for the living room this time and that is it. I'm wondering how VGChartz will track it (probably will sum all versions in one number), specially because VGC should be tracking Shield and simply isn't. |

Get a warrenty? No shit, I always get a warrenty when I buy computer equipment, what's the point of suggesting that this device will suddenly not include a warrenty like all new computer equipment does? (lol @ suggesting Gigagyte doesn't have a warrenty)
If you just hate the suppliers build your own with whatever pixy gold parts you choose & just use the free OS.
"This is going to fail hard", following a comment about manufacturers and a presumed lack of warrenty..., what are you even talking about?
I just don't understand who their audience is supposed to be. Strictly casual gamers won't see the benefit and will shy away mainly due to the cost and (currently) minimum features and supported games. Hardcore consoles gamers (sorry for using that term) that PC game on the side like me can't justify the purchase when we can build better PCs ourselves. Hardcore PC gamers will look at the specs and the price tag and just die of laughter. So, who's left?
I am the Playstation Avenger.
