You can compare whatever you want but you will look stupid if you compare things that don't belong together. People who compare handheld sales with console sales probably also compare Fabergé egg sales with underwear sales.

Again, posts like this are no better than the ones feeling the need to bring the 3DS up in a PS4 VS Wii U thread.

as much as people have a right to complain we dont have to complain about the complaining.

At the end of the day, it's all about profit. Regardless of whether or not that profit is made off a handheld or a home console, the health of the company depends on how much money it makes.

I went over this in another thread but I'm basing this on rational thought.

1. Consumers have more time for handhelds. Handhelds are consumed differently than home consoles.

2. Handhelds are cheaper. Screensize and hardware are nowhere near to compare. Again, both serve different needs of consumers.

3. Handhelds and consoles have different target audiences. A big part of handheld consumers have no need for a home console and vice versa.

To pick a less exaggerated comparison: Comparing handhelds to home consoles is like comparing smartphones to desktop computers. They may both do the same things but they do them completely differently. Both have their uses in different fields.

Its mostly cause this site is full of Sony fans which is why that happens... for example:

3ds outsells ps4 + xbox one combined = nooooo you can't do that, handhelds and consoles can't be compared!

Ps vita outsells the wiiU = yayyyyyy, go vita, you show that console fag whoes boss!!!! Or they won't even comment.

if that't the case,then why not compare those systems to Ipads,iphones,pc's. consoles and handheld's are different things.

your points are valid though. We just differ in opinions. My reasoning why consoles and HH's can be compared when smart phones and desktops cannot are because they have similar sales. The PS2 is the best selling system after all beating the DS. The PS also outsold the GBA & PSP.
