I'd agree a platformer is as fun as its level design, but I'd count gravity as part of that design.

As for Bowser the CGI N64-era Bowser looks nothing like the in-game one even in terms of shape or proportion, which convinces me even more that it was more a technical issue of polygon pushing capability.

Well this is why there is a poll. We all have our own opinions.

Just to show you, the horns on his head are pretty much half the size they used to be, he shell lining was a lot smaller, his cheek's were nowhere nealy as big, his nostrals are a lot tinier, and even his claws were a lot larger. There is a difference because the the graphical limitations of the N64, but the proportions are unarguably different now. He used to look more like a Turtle Dragon, now because his claws, teeth, and spikes are so small he almost looks like a normal turtle.

And yet the CGi promo pic of N64 Bowser looks more like modern bowser than the top pic above or in-game 64 bowser.

I'm glad to see Super Mario 64 winning the poll

That's the thing, to me it doesn't. I see little things like the lighter colours, smaller horns/claws/teeth, and big pinchable cheeks. For some reason you don't.

Those are very minor changes. Nothing compared to the vast difference in shape and proportions with the in game model.

That's the thing, it's not minor to me. Makes Bowser look cuddly now instead of a bad ass. I think even if graphics were better back in the day, Bowser would still look nothing like what he does now (however he also wouldn't look like a cross-eyed moron, wow does he look bad on the N64 engine).

We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Like I said, everyone has an opinion. At least we can both agree that Super Mario Galaxy & Super Mario 64 are fun to play

Amen to that! :)

I've only played 3 of them for long enough to judge them.

Mario 64 I never liked as much as everyone else does. When I first played it back in 1999 or so (when I was 3) I thought it was okay, but not as good as Banjo-Kazooie or even Crash Bandicoot. Recently I tried playing it again and my opinion on it is slightly worse, but still mostly the same: an okay game that has aged poorly.

Mario Galaxy is my favorite game of all time.

Mario Galaxy 2 is not as good as 1 but it's still great.

Sunshine. I think it's a brilliant game that is really underrated. It's the most difficult one, it's very hard to find every single shine, it's got amazing graphics for it's time (and I'm sure it stands the test of time), free camera control, great gameplay, the water mechanics are great too. Oh and I'm still amazed at how awesome the water looks! It was a masterpiece back then, and now all you hear is "it's the worst of the bunch" or stuff like that...
