Forums - Nintendo - Could Just Dance Have Been A Wii U System Seller?

If Nintendo made it so the game wasn't available on the Wii and packed it in with the Wii U could it have sold systems?  There is still a demand for it among the casual audience as it sold almost 2m units on the Wii and only 0.1m on PS3 and 0.5m on 360.  I think it would have been a smart move, especially in the holiday season.  Who knows it could have sold more systems than SM3DW.  What do u guys think?

Just Dance 2014 being a Wii U exclusive bundled with the system would've helped for sure. How much? Not enough but it would've been better than nothing.

I don't think it could have been a system seller, but sales could have been very  good.. Better than 3D World? Not in a million years, buddy.

How in the world could Nintendo have pulled that off?

I never said it would sell more than SM3DW, I said it could have moved more systems in the holiday season.

Well I'm sure they can control what games can be made for the Wii and they can pack in games with the Wii U similar to what the X1 did with fifa.

Not many casuals buy a console at $300.

A Just Dance 2015 Bundle (32GB, not 8GB) at $250 could sell very well next year if there's no Wii version anymore.

One thing I think we're learning is that casuals don't upgrade their hardware the same way core gamers do.

Core gamers are simple -- "I like Call of Duty/Resident Evil/Zelda/Madden NFL ... I must buy the next system they're on"

Casual gamers don't behave the same way. They aren't buying a Wii U en masse even though say Wii Party U and Wii Fit U and Wii Sports Club are all Wii U only.

Making Just Dance 2014 Wii U only would kill that franchise (faster anyway) because it destroys the value proposition. One of the reasons JD still sells is because it's cheap and people already have the hardware to run it. Ask them to buy a seperate $300 piece of hardware just to play that game and nuh uh ... they're bailing out.

If Nintendo stopped Ubisoft from releasing Just Dance on Wii then they would have completely lost their third party support. And Microsoft must have payed a fortune to get EA to bundle Fifa.

Well if Nintendo did this then Ubisoft would be getting money either way, wether they'd cut off support is debatable since Ubisoft knows eventually they have to stop making the games for Wii, why not do it now if Nintendo is willing to give them a big check for the pack in deal.  Also Nintendo has a fortune, time to start investing it in the Wii U.
