I would beg to differ. What you are doing is re-defining marriage and rights to whatever someone personally feels. Why not allow multiple wives and husbands? Why not allow marriage between animals and humans? Why not with children under the age of 13? Why not with anything. If you re-define basic rights as anyone could do whatever they like because it's right than you have to question why can't just create my own rights. Is human rights a man made idea in which is completely subjective and if so why not just say your opinion is as neutral as the opposite opinion? Example, did the nazi do anything wrong because they believe humans rights were for there specific people oppose to you who felt the opposite? Is it just a difference in moral opinions on human rights?

Ect, is disgusting and weak. You know it's not at all comparable but you need to find a way to justify "I don't like it" plain and simple.

Marriage is not threatened by gay people, I would say the millions of straight couples that divorce each year are more a threat of devaluing it, and even then it's not a big deal.

what kind of witchcraft is this? isn't the united states well "united" lol so shouldn't there be one marriage act across the whole country.

Just because the 50 states form a union doesnt mean that they arent individually governed.  Most of the governing in the us happens at a state level, with the federal governement being more responsible for international issues or issues that affect every state.  

Marriage, up to this point, has been the responsibility of the state government.  Something I guess the judicial branch is deciding to change.

Fascinating.

It seems like what ironically "doomed" conservatives in this case was that they passed a law specifically making it illegal when previously there just wasn't a legal standard for it.


Which is pretty funny really.

Had their not been a specific law specifically banning something that couldn't of happened in the first place it probably would of never went to court.

Lol, yep.  Prop 8 is going to end up being one of the greatest thing to ever happen to the equal marriage movement.

True... Kind of... They have been issueing legal same sex marriage licenses... So im not really sure how to classify the situation...

No, they are marriage licenses.  So it is legal same sex marriage.  However, it is all temporary at this point pending more court battles.  So, one day those licenses could be deemed invalid... Of course, like I said in the op, with the precedent of prop 8, it is hard to see the ban being reinstated.  They may get a stay from the court that will halt the marriage licenses being issued while the legal drama unfolds, but it seems to be just a matter of time at this point...

And the judge just denied a stay on his decision, so same sex marriage is going to around for a while in Utah, probably for good

interesting facts indeed. Here the marriage act is a fedral law. State Governments mainly deal with traffic laws and development laws and recreational laws i guess lol
