I kind of agree, but I doubt that this attitude is mainly because of "the 1%".
I've heard that it's mainly the lower middle-class / upper working-class who show the biggest hatred towards the poor/unemployed. Because they have a strong subconscious (and: quite reasonable) fear of decline of their own economic/social status, of becoming poor like these people as well. As long as it's only a fear and hasn't happened yet, we'll invent "reasons" why it won't happen to us, trying to tell ourselves that these people are different from us.
In a way, this woman simply takes advantage of certain rules of our system. And game theory suggests that pretty much everyone acts like this.
