i honestly find new tracks to be....uninspired
still eager to see old tracks remodeled
what i love from its visuals are visual FX. fire, transparences, reflections, bloom, Dof, self shadowing...a lot of shit going on at HQ

Completely agree. Especially after watching the new trailer on my Wii U in perfect quality.
If it ends up running at 60 fps during 2-player races I will be mighty impressed.
Airport track looks amazing.
But since mario kart wii disregarded local multiplayer by only having too large arenas for local 4 player game, i dont have my hopes high.
The emphesis on skill should return too.

Whats even better, this game needs the option of choosing what items are available in the races.
So you can play with all the items against your little cousins, and with the original or only green shells against your mates. I dont understand why this is not standard in mario kart yet.

Well I may have to question some of this,
So:
Improved Graphics- This is given, Its a new console.
Underwater Driving - I bought my son MK7 for the 3DS and it has underwater driving already.
Glider- Again, this is also included in MK7 3DS.
Anti-grav Hovercraft sections- New to the series, but Wipeout have been doing this for ages (so has F-Zero)
Probably 16 new tracks and 16 remade tracks- "PROBABLY" not fact.
New vehicle type- Lets hope so.
New Multiplayer modes (presumably)- Indeed "presumably"
Perhaps expanded roster- Again "perhaps"
Definitely worth 60 bucks to me - To each their own I guess.

I'm expecting 2 player local with seperate screens on gamepad and TV, perhaps 5 player splitscreen, a smoother online experience, and better powerup balance (I'm looking at you, thundercloud). Also, I quite like the glider and coin mechanics in MK7 and would prefer to enjoy them on a bigger screen.
And new tracks are always welcome. You going to tell me the airport track doesn't look like crazy fun?

And that gets you excited enough to put down another $60? |
some new tracks and traditional controls would have gotten me to put that down. I trust Nintendo's gameplay programming at this point. The only flaws I found on their Wii games were the forced motion controls on some (rolling in DKC, flying in SS, and MKWii)

Works for WWE/FIFA/Madden/Annual franchises.
Mario Kart really has lost it's spark though. Double Dash was the last one that truly wowed me (though Mario Kart DS was close purely because dat 60fps on dat little portable!?)

Mario Kart Wii was a massive let down for me though. I hope they tidy battle mode up again. The arenas just got too big. I preferred the tight compact designs of the older MK Battle Modes.
Hopefully Mario Kart 8 will bring some of that back to the home console games. But most importantly, hopefully it'll return to 60fps 4 player split screen like GCN was. Think that's what killed Mario Kart Wii the most for me. 30fps just made it feel awful and unresponsive.
Doesn't look really good to be honest, more of a last gen game tech wise. And it won't be out this Christmas so you'll be sounding really awkward.
With the negativity out of the way, I'm hyped for MK8!!! The upside tracks sound really cool and hopefully the online is a better experience than MKWii.
