I can only see this as a desperate act by Nintendo until the real Zelda comes out. Same thing they did with Star Fox Adventures but they had Dynasty Warriors reskinned this time.

Or it could just be a game they wanted to make. Not every game in a franchise has to be a mainline installment.

No. Nintendo did the exact same thing with StarFox Adventures. The Gamecube had a similar problem with games coming out. The demand must really be getting to them. Miyamoto forced Rare to reskin Star Fox Adventures in a similar fashion when they were working on a new IP back in the GC era. This will probably turn out worse. Nintendo isn't making the game. Its the Dynasty Warriors team.

The only way I can see this being a hit is if people are fans of Dynasty Warriors. From the look at the sales on VG Chartz of Dynasty Warriors their glory days were in the early 2000's on the PS2 and thats where it ends.

If you don't remember history you're doomed to repeat it.

Nintendo is always desperate. They've been doomed since...

I remember the difference in visuals in Mario 3d World E3 trailer and last trailers. If the difference between this teaser and the final game here will be the same - I'm OK with it.
Keep in mind, when games are shown for x1/360/ps3/4 they have beatiful teasers, then the trailers for them become worse and worse in graphics department. And real gameplay usually looks nothing like first showing.
Nintendo have a different approach to this.

What PS4 games are you talking about here?

DeepDown for example. And also i think discussing Sony games here is pure offtopic.

Never said they were doomed, just desperate. The only thing they are doomed to is to repeat bad mistakes in history like cheap reskinning to push a game with the Zelda name out to people. As I said before, they did the same thing to Star Fox. Funny...we haven't seen a Star Fox since.

I don't think we've seen enough of Deep Down to pass a final judgement on it. And even if Capcom did mislead the audience with its reveal teaser, that's a game from a third party developer. They'd do that kind of thing no matter the console. Sony hasn't done that for PS4 games. They're no different from Nintendo here.

And if you think discussing Sony games is off-topic (wo which I agree it is), why did you bring up the subject in the first place?

They must have also been desperate in 2010 when they added Kirby to Epic Yarn when it was originally going to be a new ip.

Star Fox Assault 2005 and Star Fox Command 2006 say otherwise

Whatever they did with Starfox doesn't mean anything now, and even if so, from what you said they already had a game in place, then they simply put Starfox over it. Creating the gameplay, then fitting one of their existing IPs to it. This has always been Nintendo's philosophy, so nothing desperate here.

Can't say anything about the sales as I've never looked at them, but I think it's safe to say that this game will sell better than what Dynasty Warriors games have been selling recently, simply because you'll have Zelda fans + Warriors fans.

You're obviously not getting it. That is akin to paper mario where 2D meets stylization. Its easier to reskin a 2D game, cheaper and better for the sake of time than a 3D game which takes actual thought to eventually feel natural and unforced. This is taking a game that has nothing to do with your game and reskinning it to meed demand. This is strike two on Nintendo for cheap attempts to use Zelda within a short period of time when what they advetised was this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_fyOkrteqM

This is not going to breathe life into Zelda again. Star Fox Adventures should've been Dinosaur Adventures, plain and simple. They got Tecmo to reskin one of its most niche and repetitive franchises. Zelda is not Dynasty warriors, I assure you.

Sony Defence Force on guard! )))
As you can see, in my post i didn't say anything on Sony. I was talking on the specific way of marketing games which has a lot in common with 'HD-twins' last generation and so called 'nextgen' this generation.

They said this direct would be focused on spring releases. So does that mean they're pushing hyrule warriors for spring?

It's for games up until August, said Nintendo of Australia. Seeing how many hearts Link had in some of the trailer's scenes, I imagine they're pretty well along their way with it, so I can see it releasing by August.

OT: Not sure if the OP is serious or not, but the game overall really didn't look that great, which is typical of Dynasty Warriors games. Maybe they'll polish it up some by the time it releases, but I wouldn't expect to ever be able to call this game beautiful. I do like the scarf they gave Link though!

Maybe, looks like a one year game to me.
