I don't think they believe this will turn things around by itself.  But it should help at least somewhat in Japan, and it tides over Zelda fans since it's not looking promising for Zelda U to release in 2014.  It's a smart move.

Nobody in the west buys Dynasty Warriors, so how is this different?

Zelda hasn't been doing well in Japan for some time. This collaboration may be mutually beneficial there.

I just saw the trailers online and this thread was just a filler, so decided to give it some meat ;)

My first impressions, not impressed, not my kind of game, but I need to see the trailer again when I get home.

nor i.   the music was terrible.  i know it's your basical zelda music but being played by a generic sounding electric guitar makes it sound bad.   the gameplay looks boring but i guess i've never been a fan of the genre either.  everything seems soo lazy.

the ONLY way this is a good thing, imo, is if this was actually a tech demo nintendo decided to release from the zelda team as they explorered ways to make the combat in zelda more dynamic and engaging.
