Forums - Gaming - Controversial NewYorker list: 10 best games of 2013.

Good list. Better than most sites anyways.

Most reviewers are cowards and rate games based on what they think other people will give them. If they believe a hyped game will get a lot of 10's they give it a 10 just to give the impression that their opinion is a valid one. Pathethic indeed.

I actually liked this list, because the author has a different approach. He evaluates games for the experience, innovation and engagement they provide to the player rather than for its graphics and plot. Now I´m enticed to try Papers Please, Stanley Parable and Cart Life (he cites on the article)

The list is complete BS. "10 most CRUCIAL games of 2013". Were those CRUCIAL games? What did they do to the industry? He praises independent games and then goes hating on AAA titles.
Look what he wrote about Bioshock Infinite: Its aesthetic wonder was unmatched by its plot and its uninspired shooter-based gameplay.
And then about GTA5: It deserves no such accolade, however, for its sub-standard criminal drama, its scattershot satire, or the stultifying missions it presents to players.
The only crucial games there are Tearaway and Super Mario 3D World (which i don't like, but admit it's crucial).
This guy just wanted to get some clicks. You can easily tell that when he talks s*** about Bioshock Infinite: and GTA5 and says indi game are more crucial than those universally acclaimed games. Worst of all, he doesn't even mentioned The Last of Us.

That said, the list includes some games that probably are almost unknown among console gaming fans,

10. Tearaway (PS Vita)

LOL. I meant PC, web of smartphone games.. hehe.

Tearaway may have not sold well, but the gaming community is somewhat aware of its existence

now, now... I wonder how many among us played Ridiculous Fishing and Candy Box....

I have!

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Hm... actually quite a refreshing list. Neat to see some under-appreciated games get a nod.

Half those games are awful compared to console games

So was Tearaway the best?

Okay with that.

No, it's number 10.

Its it's a good list if you ask me.

I'm willing to bet they neither have a ps3 nor a 360 lol

Come on, CANDY BOX? I played it all the way through and while it was pretty inventive and fun I would never even consider it a game.

I have yet to play the two PC games at the top, though, but I do have them on my Steam wishlist!

Maybe if you bother to read the article, you'll see that he's is aware of titles like GTAV and TLOU. Though, he has other tastes and not easily impressed by a big budget.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I agree with his points towards GTAV. While Bioshock Infinite is a very good.

A good list nevertheless, very good indeed.
