Yes, that's because Wii U has gradually increased in sales, while Vita got a 2 week bump before going down again.

im really just quoting so the pics show up again.

yeah I know, I just feel like posting random crap tonight

I never thought there would be such a fuss over selling 48k in a single region. Doesn't PS3/360 do this every week of the year?

What? Did you not look at the sales he posted? They're not doing it this week of this year in that region.

lol  Did I say "that region"?   or did I say "a single region"

Context.  It'a all about the context.

The region is Japan where home consoles do not sell 50k every week.  Not even the Wii did that very often.

The 48k is significant because just 5 weeks ago the Wii U was selling 3k per week.

Context.

it's the holiday's in japan, and mario 3d world and DQ just go released for the only nextgen console on the market, i expected 35k, it did 13k better, we really don't need a thread about this. now if wiiu manages 500k in november npd then its time for the doom talk to slow down.

Yes Viper1, context.

The Wii U was selling 3k per week (which it really wasn't, pure exaggeration on your part, the 3k was just before the launch of bundles) when:

the calendar was different, consoles tend to sell higher during this part of the year, even in japan.

there was no bundle where Nintendo was essentially giving away 100$ worth of product that wouldnt have been able to sell on it own

and the release of one of its most anticipated games (and also a update to a popular franchise).

So yes threads like these are worthless in that they give no real context about the Wii U future, just cherry picking a good week (with pretty much all stars aligned).

christmas+mario+dragon quest=>50k=not really impressive.

they good numbers but not impressive, unless you thought wiiu would never reach GC numbers in japan.

I really hate to be a killjoy but it's just one week. A week with the holiday boost and a new Dragon Quest. I would hope the hardware sales go up because of that.

Not "just one week" and not a new dragon quest.

So next week we'll see another boost or hold, cuz if i'm not wrong it's Monster Hunter Frontier G release for wii u.

You have to compare apples to apples. Japan sales with Japan sales. Comparing Japan sales with US sales will always make any Japanese number seem small and insignificant.

GameCube's Media Create sales for December 2002
The charts for the week ending:

Dec. 1st 34.300
Dec. 8th: 26.200
Dec 15th: 67.500
Dec 22nd: 76.900
Dec 29th: 62.100
Jan 12th: 19.902

I expect a huge boost.

Japan sales cannot be judged right now in all honestly, 2 big game releases and the holidays the real test will come when the holiday season is over. in reality japan console sales are starting to be insignificant to the console market,  take away japan sales from 360/ps3/wii and you still have around the same sales minus 10 million.
