It's the christmas holidays, and it's only one week, it's still doomed until it can prove otherwise

Pretty sure most of the Japanese don't celebrate Christmas or go crazy with shopping at this time of year the way Europe and ESPECIALLY the US do. Remembering past years, it always seemed like the time Japan's game sales spiked the most to line up with a holiday was during the "Golden Week," which I believe takes place in January? I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was DQX and aggressive bundling that have lead to Wii U sales increasing noticeably in Japan for the past 3 weeks. Also, Super Mario 3D World held strong in Japan this week...its legs are already starting to show. Here's hoping this is a sign of momentum for Wii U in Japan. :D

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

What's wrong with saying the thruth?

Nothing. But i don't expect you to like discussing the bad sales WiiU is experiencing even though it's the truth.

You're not familiar with Pavolink, are you?

They do have a holiday boost which is starting to show a little with these numbers and it will increase through to the last week of the year.  Granted, you are correct that it is not as large of a holiday sales period as it is in the US and Europe.  But there is definitely more to the Wii U numbers than just holdiay boost as they are much more significant in proportion to all other consoles.

Golden Week is in the end of April and first week of May.  Obon is another big holdiay in Japan which runs during mid August (other periods too but less gift giving during the others).

Ah k, thanks for the correction. :) Is there some kind of Japanese holiday in January though? Cause I seem to remember some noticeable boosts in January (for Japan only, obviously...sales tank in the US and Europe in January :p) in previous years. Maybe I'm just remembering wrong though.

Coming of Age is a pretty big January holiday that sees some sales boosts.

Okay, that must be it then, thanks! And yeah, my main point was just that Wii U's sales increases over the past 3 weeks have been too significant to be attributed just to the "holidays"...like you mentioned as well.

I really hate to be a killjoy but it's just one week. A week with the holiday boost and a new Dragon Quest. I would hope the hardware sales go up because of that.

If you really hate to be a killjoy, then don't do it. This website will still function just fine, the world will keep turning, and the Wii U will still sell poorly even if you don't piss on the parade. So feel free to just let things like this go if you hate commenting negatively on it so much.

Ofcourse, in the off chance that you don't really hate being a killjoy at all, maybe even somehow secretly takes some pleasure in pointing out negative aspects of positive Wii U news, then by all means: Carry on!

I really hate to be a killjoy but it's just one week where it outsold everything in Japan except the 3DS XL. A week with the holiday boost that every other systems also had and an expansion pack for an already released Dragon Quest game that released months ago and is actually required to play the new expansion. I would hope the hardware sales go up because of that.

Fixed for you :). Your welcome.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

You're right, how dare I offer a contrasting opinion on a sales site. We shouldn't discuss anything here! Let's all just blindly follow one opinion, that totally makes sense.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
