I'm sure there are a few exceptions, most of them from blind harcore fans. But that's what they were. Exceptions. Saying that "everybody thought that it was going to be the 3DS killer" is plain wrong. I think it was someone from gamespot who said that the vita wouldn't make it to the west because of how badly it was selling in Japan. Both opinions/predictions were equally bad. Anyone who's followed the numbers even the last 5 years would know that this was extremely unlikely.

Before the Wii U , everybody thought Nintendo would lead the generation.

after the release, in 2013, everybody thought Orbis and 720 would sell at least as bas as Wii U and that consoles market was dead.

I don't get why you single out Sony fans. If you visit the official psvita thread you may notice that most people who post there are mad at sony and point out how badly they've fucked up. Again, there are very few exceptions (can't think of anyone at the moment apart from the guy who made a thread about vita outselling 3ds even after there was a 20m+ gap and vita was almost dead). But if we're gonna generalize based on exceptions, why not talk about Ninty fans and how 3rd parties screw ninty up and how they "sabbotage themselves out of malice"? Does that sound reasonable to you? It doesn't to me, but saying that ninty fans think that "Nintendo can do no wrong" would be a terrible generalization, as there are several threads from Ninty fans pointing out all of Ninty's faults.

In my opinion, that's not the problem. There are many appealing games. And Sony did support the system with major system sellers like Uncharted, Resistence, Call of Duty (having their own team making one), Little Big Planet, Killzone, Wipeout, Gravity Rush (becoming a vita game, despite being developed for ps3), Soul Sacrifice, since they no longer had a MH, and even asking the team behind Little Big Planet to make a new ip for the system. It did get support, but lost MOMENTUM. It is not perceived as the cool item to have, like a ps4, a 3ds or an iphone. Just look at 9gag. It's all they are talking/posting about. If there was a clever campain that made people want to have one, it'd be flying off the shelves. Again, just my opinion: games matter far less than people around here believe.

This fucking guy here speaks the truth. I'm 29 years old, why the BLEEP would I want a handheld? I just got a tablet, that's all I need for mobility entertainment.

The only reason the 3Ds is selling well is because children of a certain school age still use them without said stigma. It's okay if you're in grade school to use it on the school bus or when on vacation. 

But mainly kids. That console has very few adult oriented games and the ones it has generally sold pretty poorly(not I said GENERALLY before i get a bunch of examples.) The new 2DS is the main reason for this huge influx in sales. I think you wild agree that this model is mainly for kids. Just ask Nintendo. They said it was for kids 4 to 7 years if I remember correctly. That market is HUGE and with that low price point, there was no chance that the 2DS wouldn't sell a ton.

3ds has a lot of games adults like games..

And i bet anything.. that games like mariokart, mario and  donkey kong.. appeal to a lot more grown ups than call of duty and killzone type of game..

Nintendo have doing research what the audience of Pokemon is in japan. Believe it ore not it is students. Dont come with your steretoype. Jes Nintendo have children adult and all demographic type games. Not only Children.
