Based on the past year or so is easy to say that we didn't expected much from the vita. But before the HW was released everybody thought that it was going to be the 3DS killer.

I see this posted every time there's a vita related discussion and I'd like to know who that "everybody" was. I'm assuming you're all referring to one user, because the vast majority of people posting here did not believe for a second that it'd be the 3ds killer. At best they were predicting higher sales than psp.

I'm sure there are a few exceptions, most of them from blind harcore fans. But that's what they were. Exceptions. Saying that "everybody thought that it was going to be the 3DS killer" is plain wrong. I think it was someone from gamespot who said that the vita wouldn't make it to the west because of how badly it was selling in Japan. Both opinions/predictions were equally bad. Anyone who's followed the numbers even the last 5 years would know that this was extremely unlikely.
